Given a long enough timeline, basically all carrier-branded Android phones will eventually reach the "free" price point on Amazon Wireless or Wirefly. That day has come for the Motorola DROID RAZR HD, as now both new Verizon customers and those eligible for upgrade can grab this device for a single, solitary penny. That makes it basically free.

In January, we saw Motorola's Droid Razr HD drop to just a penny on Amazon for customers looking to upgrade their old devices. Sadly, the deal didn't extend to new customers (though at $19.99, not much complaining could be done).

If you were hoping to hop onto the big red network with the Razr HD for a more enticing price, Amazon's got your deal – the phone is now just a penny for new customers (and additional lines). Upgrades on the other hand will cost customers $89.99, strangely enough.

Though the Razr HD launched last fall, its specs still hold up against the competition.

Most of the time when we post a good deal – especially on a free phone – it's typically for new customers. In a rare event, though, Wirefly has turned that deal on its head by making the RAZR HD free for upgrades only. New customers will still have to shell out $50 for the same devices. It's a pretty good deal either way, but it's particularly killer for existing Verizon customers.

If you've got some spare holiday cash burning a hole in your pocket, now might be the time to jump on the RAZR HD deal Amazon is offering. If you pick up the device from Amazon Wireless right now, it's only going to run you $99 – no matter if you're a new customer or not. Previously the device was priced at $130, and then only if you were new to Big Red.

The Droid RAZR HD might not have the massive battery of its beefier Maxx brother, but it's a fine device in its own right. The RAZR HD runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, has 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.

Verizon's Motorola DROID RAZR HD And RAZR MAXX HD Now Support Isis Mobile Wallet

Earlier this week, Isis Mobile Wallet payment platform went live on three U.S. carriers - Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. Verizon had only one device listed as supported at launch, with the DROID RAZR HD / MAXX HD compatibility set to arrive by the end of October. The Galaxy S III was also listed, but according to this list, it doesn't seem to be ready just yet.

Two days ago, Verizon released the first update v0.7.2 for the RAZR HD variants with only a mention of one new feature in the changelog: an "updated Google Security Patch." Today, Verizon amended the update document and added the mention of Isis Mobile Wallet, thus fulfilling its promise right on schedule.

Right on schedule, Motorola's Droid RAZR HD (which has already been rooted thanks to Dan Rosenberg) and RAZR MAXX HD have arrived to market. Both devices are now live on Verizon's site along with Amazon Wireless.

As expected, the RAZR HD is available in either white or black for $199.99 on contract from Amazon or Verizon, while the RAZR MAXX HD goes for $299.99.

If you were thinking about picking up one of Motorola's newest Android handset, maybe this will push you over the edge. Android tinkerer Dan Rosenberg has published a root exploit that should work on almost all of Motorola's recent devices including the RAZR M, Atrix HD, Photon Q, RAZR i, and the upcoming RAZR HD.

The exploit is exceptionally easy to run. All you have to do is get your device plugged in with USB debugging on. Download the .ZIP file from the source link below onto your Windows PC, and launch the 'run.bat' file. You will get a series of instructions guiding you through the process, but it should only take a few minutes.

DROID RAZR HD And RAZR MAXX HD Will Arrive On Verizon October 18th, For $199 And $299 On Contract Respectively

We've already seen the RAZR M land on the nation's largest carrier. Now, Verizon is adding the other two RAZRs we knew were coming. The DROID RAZR HD and the DROID RAZR MAXX HD, apart from single-handedly breathing new life into my caps lock key, will be arriving on October 18th. The former will run you $199 on a new two-year contract. If you're looking for some extra battery life from your kevlar-coated phone, the MAXX version will sport a hefty $299 price tag.

Motorola Pulls All Android Devices Except Upcoming RAZR i And RAZR HD From German Website, Patents To Blame?

Update: AllThingsD, reaching out to Motorola, and received the following response:

“As we have previously stated Motorola Mobility is focusing on fewer mobile devices ... As a result we have phased out some of our lower tier devices in Europe/Germany.”

I haven't been following Motorola's ongoing patent spats in Germany particularly closely in the last year, but I do know the company hasn't been doing well there. Failures to assert standards-essential patents against the likes of Microsoft and Apple (though Apple can't use push email in Germany because of Moto), as well as a number of losses in countersuits resulting in injunctions, have probably set back Motorola's ambitions in Deutschland.

Hands On With The New DROID RAZR Family

I just got back from New York, the city of absolutely no internet, and now I can finally tell you about my experiences with the new RAZRs - the DROID RAZR HD 4G LTE, DROID RAZR HD MAXX 4G LTE, and DROID RAZR M 4G LTE. (My shift key is going to get a workout today!)

The design and construction of all 3 phones is basically the same. A stitched Kevlar back with a rubber coating, a plastic body, and an industrial-style design with exposed, prominent screws. Just imagine an original DROID RAZR MAXX with screws embedded in it and you are most of the way there.
