[New Game] HeroCraft Releases Protoxide: Death Race Only 18 Months After Teasing It

Sometimes game development just doesn't go as planned. New challenges appear, deadlines are pushed back, and entire projects can end up scrapped. In the case of Protoxide: Death Race, it seemed for a long time like it was dead in the water. Now all of a sudden this title has appeared in the Play Store after about a year and a half of waiting. But if you're in the mood for heavily armed hovercraft, look no further.

[New Game] Slingshot Racing Lets You One-Touch Your Way To The Finish Line

One-touch games work great on mobile platforms - it's part of the formula that makes endless runners and Angry Birds incredibly popular. Adapting that simplicity to racing takes a little finesse, but developer Crescent Moon Games (creators of the popular Paper Monsters and Aralon games) seems to have managed it. In Slingshot Racing, all the powered sleds go at the same speed and have no steering, so to get ahead, you fire a grappling hook at a corner fulcrum to make the best line through the icy tracks.

[New Game] Roller Rally: Snake Pass Mixes Racing, Endless Running, And Ingratiating Cuteness

Endless runners a la Temple Run are fast becoming the default genre for mobile games, and with good reason. Their one-touch play style is perfect for touchscreens, and the short levels work well for bite-sized sessions. That said, it's always nice to see a little innovation, and iOS pilgrim Roller Rally has that in spades. In addition to a competitive racer format, it's got great graphics and tight controls.

If you've ever played the console snowboarding game SSX, you'll be on familiar turf here.

Polarbit Releases 'Cracking Sands', A Cartoon Racer With Guns, Lasers, And Other Destructive Crap–But It's Not As Exciting As It Sounds

Everyone appreciates a good racing game. Likewise, most also enjoy blowing stuff up. When the two are married into one game, one would think the result would be amazing. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Let's take Polarbit's new title Cracking Sands as an example – the screenshots look good, the video is promising, but the game itself... well, that's something else altogether. Now, I'm not saying it's a bad game, because it's not.

NASCAR Mobile '13 Screeches Into The Play Store, Covered In Engine Grease And Logos

Round and round and round she goes. Where she stops nob-holy mother of crap! That car just exploded! Okay, alright. Maybe I can understand a little bit of why folks like NASCAR. And in solidarity with my fellow southerners who adore the sport, allow me to share this with you: NASCAR Mobile '13.

[New Game] Steampunk Racing 3D Is Wacky Races By Way Of Tim Burton

If you've got fond memories of spending Saturday morning watching the antics of Peter Perfect, Penelope Pitstop, and Dick Dastardly (themselves based on The Great Race from 1965), then you should check out Steampunk Racing 3D. While it doesn't have the same abundance of personality as the Hanna Barbara classic, it's definitely got the cartoonish exaggeration down pat. In this full polygonal racer, you're tasked with navigating your steam-powered contraption through an Industrial Revolution setting while dealing with other racers, with varying degrees of prejudice.

Need For Speed Most Wanted Review: A Cool New Car With No Stick Shift

I'm a big fan of EA's Need For Speed series - according to Steam, I played Hot Pursuit for over 50 hours on my PC. Their latest addition to the cops 'n' racers stable is Most Wanted, hotly anticipated on consoles because it's from the racing pros at Criterion. But for those without an Xbox or PC and an abundance of mobile horsepower, EA offers the Android version, for a reasonable $7.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted Hits Android, Available In The Play Store For $7

Most people love fast cars. Vin Diesel loves them. Will Ferrell has been known to go 'round the track a time or two. Heck, even Tracy Chapman needed a fast car at one point. Driving fast is a thing that, by nature, we like to do. However, it's usually not the best idea jump behind the wheel and hit fifth gear at full throttle. For that, we have video games. All of the fast, none of the wreck/death/ticket/jail time/other bad things.
