[New Game] Avoider Is A Puzzle Game That Challenges You To Move Colored Squares In Tandem, Is Harder Than It Sounds

Well, this one sure is going to bend your brain a bit. Avoider is a puzzle game with a very basic premise. You have to move two colored squares to opposite corners of the screen without hitting any obstacles. The catch? They're movement is locked together, and you only control the blue one. When you move your box, the red one moves in perfectly-synced symmetrical motion. Yeah, it gets convoluted. Though, reading this site, I'm sure you're used to that.

While the concept is great, this game does have one fatal flaw: touchscreens. As you may or may not be aware, fingertips are often attached to hands, which are themselves attached to arms.

[New Game] City Of Secrets Makes Its Way To Android, Offers Hidden Object, Puzzle, And Adventure All In One

Every once in a while, a new game shows up on Android that really catches my attention. Sometimes it's the graphics, sometimes it's the gameplay itself. Sometimes it's both. The latter is the case with City of Secrets, which just recently landed in the Play Store.

As far as gameplay is concerned, City of Secrets reminds me of Machinarium. The principle of the game is very similar: find various, somewhat hidden, objects and use them to solve puzzles. Of course, it looks nothing like Machinarium, but that doesn't mean it isn't equally as nice to look at - it's just different.

Amazing Alex Is Now Available In The Play Store, Comes In Three Different Versions For Your Confus-Er, Enjoyment

Rovio's newest game, you know the one that has neither birds nor pigs, Amazing Alex has finally landed in the Play Store. The game, which centers around a bright youngster named Alex and his fascination with using Rube Goldberg machines to accomplish tasks. The game, much like Angry Birds Space, is available in three variants on Android: a free, ad-supported version, a $0.99 paid version, and then a $2.99 "HD" version. Also like Angry Birds Space, the value of the HD version is dubious at best.

I downloaded and tested both the paid versions on my Xoom and could discern no visible difference in the quality of the apps (the Xoom has a resolution of 1280x800).

It's taken a while to get to this point, but we're finally here. A new era for mobile gaming. From tomorrow forward, the world as you know it will cease to be the same. Why? Because after today, Rovio will have a game that isn't Angry Birds-related on the Play Store. What is the game? Do you even care? It's Amazing Alex. If you've ever played a contraption-building game, it'll look familiar to you. If you haven't, watch this:

Pricing information is still unavailable, but if the company follows its previous pattern, it will have both free and paid versions. Whether the game will be able to reach the same level of popularity as Angry Birds has yet to be seen, but if you've been waiting for Rovio to do anything besides release more levels and skins for that thing where you throw things at other things, tomorrow your wait finally ends.

If you own an Xperia phone or Sony's Tablet S, then you're finally going to get a treat before the others do. The Tiny Bang Story is a game centered around the inhabitants of Tiny Planet. An asteroid did a number on this planet, and now it's in shambles. Fortunately, you don't need cheap labor to rebuild. Just some solid problem solving skills.

Update: The exclusivity period will last until August 5 2012.

The game features a wide variety of puzzle games, including actual puzzles. As in, with pieces that you put together. The variety of brain teasers is actually pretty impressive and the artwork is fantastic.

For those of you too young to remember, or those just too cool to watch one of the landmark geek films of the 1980s, War Games is a movie about an artificial intelligence that plays a war game with real nuclear weapons. The humans don't know this, of course, but things get real very fast once they figure it out. The movie is a little dated now, but that doesn't stop the new official War Games puzzle game from being a blast to play.

WarGames is a strategic puzzler, and I do mean strategic. This is no Tetris or Sudoku - WarGames: WOPR tests your ability to plan ahead and handle complex, multi-layered decisions.

Mystery Manor Promises Never Ending Puzzle Fun, Oh And Don't Forget The Mystery

Whenever we find a game that's not a simple physics or tower defense game, it's a delight. Mystery Manor is a puzzle/adventure game that promises its game modes are "never ending." Which is quite a feat for a puzzle game. Outside of promises of infinity, the game looks positively fantastic. The artwork that has gone into this game is superb, and the style reminds us of old late 90s PC adventure games.

The game is a basic story-driven puzzle game. Since it's not terribly action-packed, it's great for all ages. The game also has a multiplayer aspect, so you and your friends can help each other out on different puzzles.

Machinarium For Android Game Review: The Best $4 You'll Ever Spend On An Android Game

If you haven't heard of Machinarium, you probably aren't much of a PC gamer. That's not mean to be some kind of "high and mighty" insult - it's just the truth. Machinarium is a small indie game that was released for PCs and Macs back in September of 2009, developed by Czech studio Amanita Design. It won numerous awards as indie game of the year, as well as accolades for its astounding artwork and soundtrack.
