2040 Studios (formerly UDS) puts out some pretty solid accessories. We've looked at many of them in the past – Capta, PuGoo, Snable, Vavo, and MODO – and have walked away with overall good impressions every time. To celebrate the holiday season, the guys at 2040 have knocked the price off of both Capta and MODO, so if either one is on your holiday wishlist, now's the time to buy.
While long-time AP readers probably all know what PuGoo is, those who've only discovered the site within the last year or so are probably wondering what the hell we're babbling about. In short, it's a "specially formulated tacky pad that sticks to most surfaces, is reusable, leaves no residue and is extremely durable." I took that directly from the PuGoo website, so it should be a pretty accurate description.
So, what can you use it for?
We first heard about Vavo through its Kickstarter campaign – which was successfully funded by roughly 200% – back in June of last year. The product has been available in the retail scene for a little while now, and I've actually had a pair of them (one white, one black) for the last few months. As such, I've had plenty of time to get a feel for VaVo's strengths, as well as its weaknesses.
A few weeks ago, UDS offered a deal to Android Police readers for a silver Capta and three PuGoo pads for $30. By now, the bulk of you who ordered have probably received your goodies, and some of you may already be looking for new ways to use Capta. We already know that it makes an excellent accessory to attach your phone to a tripod, but it also makes an awesome dash mount in the car.
I'm sure you all remember the "magic alien goo" that lets your device stick to basically anything - walls, ceilings, mirrors... whatever. When we first told you about it, the samples UDS had on hand sold out double-quick. Good news: it's finally back in stock! For $10, you can score one 8" x 4" PuGoo pad and stick your phone (or small tablet) virtually anywhere.
UDS is also offering a killer deal for Android Police readers: one silver Capta and three PuGoo Pads for a a mere $30!
