More Leaked Nexus 7 Accessories Surface, Including A Rotating Stand Case, Bluetooth Keyboard Case And More

British gadget site Mobile Fun has some fantastic stuff for us to drool over today. After seeing some premium Nexus 7 accessories just a couple days ago, these new leaked photos show us even more Nexus 7 accessories including (brace yourself) a rotating stand case. In case those words don't make sense to your brain when placed together, here's how it works: it's a protective case that can turn into either a landscape or portrait stand. This is kind of awesome.

Is that not enough for you? Well, there's plenty more where that came from. If you prefer to use your Nexus 7 solely in landscape mode (we'll just assume you're not using the stock interface; to each his own), there will be a landscape-only case/stand along the same vein as one for the Xoom.

Leaked Slides Reveal Premium Nexus 7 Accessories: POGO Dock, Premium Leather Case And More Colors On The Way

Since the Nexus 7 was originally announced, we knew that there were more accessories on the way. For starters, the device has four pogo pins that don't match any currently available accessories. Well, now we're getting a first look at the next batch of extras. For starters, there's a landscape multimedia dock that will be available for $49.99, and will be able to charge the device as well as transmit audio output via a 3.5mm plug. The slides say the dock should be available "Week34 (08/24)", which could mean on August 24th, or at least within that week.

If covers were more your thing, we're also looking at a variety of cases that aren't currently available.

Yesterday I reviewed one of the most full-featured (and full-priced) EVO 3D cases currently available: Trident's Kraken Adaptive Modular System. If you can afford it, it's a great choice, even if it may be a bit on the hefty side (I recommend applying only the middle part of the case, the "Perseus" layer).

For construction workers, hikers, and other outdoorsy types, it's a dream come true. And even if your job doesn't demand the kind of rough-and-tough case that can withstand anything from a roundhouse kick to a good ol' drop on cement, it wouldn't hurt to win a $45 case for free, would it?

Case Review: Trident Kraken AMS For EVO 3D - Full Protection, Full Size, Full Price

I won't lie: I'm not in the habit of applying cases to my phone. After all, my EVO 3D is hardly fragile, and cases often add bulk to a handset and distort its aesthetics.

So when I received an offer to review Trident's latest addition to its premium mobile protection portfolio, the Kraken AMS, I was skeptical. Nevertheless, I'm never one to turn down a review unit, so I accepted it, tested it out, and found myself somewhat surprised.

In a nutshell, this case is intense.

Breakdown

What is it? The Kraken AMS (Adaptive Modular System) is full-on body armor for your EVO 3D, complete with three layers, a kickstand, and a screen protector.

[Review] Otterbox Defender Case For The Motorola XOOM: It's Like A Fat Suit For Chris Farley

The Motorola XOOM, the world's first Honeycomb tablet, costs a pretty penny - between $600 and $800, depending on the variant. If you picked up a XOOM in the last few months, you've probably asked yourself whether you should get some sort of protection, and, if so, which option you should go with.

Motorola has released a few official cases, such as the $40 PORTFOLIO, but most aftermarket case manufacturers, such as Otterbox, Amzer, Trident, and others, haven't put out many options. The PORTFOLIO case, while decently priced, has too many faults, and I simply can't recommend it unless it is reworked from the ground up: it appears to scratch the XOOM, has no charging port, USB, or HDMI cutouts (really, Motorola?

Otterbox Defender Case For The Motorola XOOM Now Available

So, you've invested a chunk of change in a Motorola XOOM and you want to make sure that it stays in one piece, right? Otterbox has come to the rescue to fit that bill perfectly with the new Defender case for the XOOM. In typical Otterbox fashion, this case is made to protect your device from drops and other mishaps, while adding a bit of functionality and style. It features a "high quality polycarbonate shell" that snaps around the outside of the tablet, with a silicon skin that hugs the shell to absorb impacts.

The back of the case features a much-desired kickstand that provides two different angles for use with a keyboard, watching videos, etc.

An interesting little tidbit came across to us in an otherwise ordinary posting on Amazon's app developers' blog. While developers will have the option to use DRM or not in their apps, those that do use the digital licensing service may present problems for those users who are temporarily without an internet connection.

Comparing it to the way Amazon currently handles the storing of Kindle books, the curious part of the post reads:

"Any app that has Amazon DRM applied to it will require users to have installed and signed-in to the Amazon Appstore client to access the app. When an app is accessed by the user, it will verify with the Amazon Appstore device service as to whether the user has an entitlement to the app.
