giftcard

Good evening, Australian readers. If you're reading this story right after it's posted, it's very nearly Wednesday by your clock, and you're one day closer to getting Google Play gift cards down under. The Google Play support page for gift cards was recently updated to include Australia, saying that prepaid cards will be available in denominations of $20, $30, and $50 AUD.

The cards themselves don't seem to be on store shelves just at the moment, but according to an anonymous tip sent to Ausdroid, they've already been sent to a "national supermarket chain" and are awaiting an official rollout on Monday, August 26th.

Update: Samsung amended the picture and took out the 64GB option. Was it included prematurely or just a mistake? We'll have to wait and see.

Hurricane Sandy may have stopped Google's live announcement of the new Nexus family (and Android 4.2) yesterday, but it didn't stop Google from releasing a truckload of information on its upcoming products online, including the Nexus 10.

The Nexus 10, in case you missed it, is Google's new 10" slate (in partnership with Samsung) that has an incredible 2560x1600 (~300ppi) display, Samsung's latest and greatest A15 dual-core processor at 1.7GHz, and 2GB RAM.

Building on the hype surrounding HTC's new line of Android-powered smartphones, the Taiwanese manufacturer has released a series of promotional videos, showcasing the HTC One series and each device's individual strengths.

For those who may have somehow missed the buzz thus far, HTC's One series is packing some pretty impressive hardware, from the One X with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, to the more budget-minded One V with its 1GHz processor and pocket-friendly 3.7" display.

CoPilot, a popular navigation and mapping company, released Live USA Standard and Premium v9 offline navigation apps to the Android Market on Monday, June 27th. While most people immediately think and resort to using Google Maps, CoPilot apps could come in quite handy for those without data plans (such as phones disconnected from service or Wi-Fi only) or in areas of poor data reception (I felt the need for something like this just this past weekend on a trip to a remote lake).

T-Mobile is starting to get aggressive with customer acquisition and retention, and in light of less than stellar fiscal performance and the news of the AT&T deal, it's not hard to see why.

On April 13, the carrier will begin offering a new off-contract smartphone plan, and it's a steal - for $59.99 a month (down from $79.99), you'll get unlimited talk, text and data*. But, there are some significant catches.

Samsung is sure throwing some big bucks behind promoting its flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab. Just like the first video from Andes in the Extreme Retreat series, Extreme Retreat- Sahara manages to be hilarious and informative at the same time, showcasing the Tab's portability, versatility, and functionality. Just watch:

And for those who haven't seen the Andes video, I've embedded it right below:

Yesterday, T-Mobile officially rebranded its new HSPA+ network as "4G" in an effort to gain that extra G that consumers are so obsessed with (relevant: [1] [2]). In order to promote this newly proclaimed largest 4G network in the country along with the myTouch 4G that was released today, the company launched a video campaign that will air on major TV networks and websites.

The first campaign video features a fresher, younger, and even more vibrant replacement for Catherine Zeta-Jones (who has been T-Mobile's regular face in the last few years) in a familiar and kind of overplayed "Hi, I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" style.

The new HTC Desire HD and Desire Z handsets are coming very soon, and we're incredibly excited about both of them (just take a look at that 5-second Fast Boot technology again).

In order to keep our excitement going, HTC just pushed out a new video of these bad boys flying up in the air, showing themselves off in various ways. I even got slight chills a bit at the end but I think it's mostly due to the epic music selection.

Motorola Droid secret unlock codes

Wait, isn't an Android already superhuman or not human at all? Anyway… these videos were posted by a YouTube user DROIDshortcuts, most likely one of Motorola's marketing handles, and then sent over to us by the folks from M80 - a company that works with Motorola on promotions for the Droid.

These videos, shot in an amateur style, are actually quite funny and well made.

Our favorite is the pool one.
