The U Ultra is HTC's latest attempt to get back on track, and it's shipping soon. How soon? March 10th. The pre-order page now lists that as the shipping date, whereas previously it only said "mid-March." The U Ultra could be reaching doorsteps by early next week. Read More
The Daydream View headset launched several weeks ago with just a single option—the "Slate" color. I like to call it gray. Now the more stylish Crimson and Snow colors (right and left above) are available for pre-order. They cost the same $79 and will ship on December 8th. Read More
It's been around two months since Samsung announced the Gear S3, the third generation of its premium Tizen-powered wearable, at the IFA trade show in Berlin. Things have been surprisingly quiet since then, and certainly not so breathless as previous Samsung wearable launches... perhaps reflecting the cooling of the market towards smartwatches in general. Anyway, you'll soon be able to pre-order a new Samsung watch, and wait then wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive: pre-orders begin on Sunday, November 6th, with orders shipping out on the 18th. Now that the Galaxy Note7's chance to be this year's best phablet has gone up in flames (sorry, I couldn't resist), LG may have a real shot with the V20. The phone launched a few weeks ago in South Korea, but it still isn't available for purchase here in the US. However, the pricing details for the unlocked model are now out. Read More
If you ordered one of the new Pixel phones, you may want to start checking your order status. Pre-orders have finally begun to ship, as some of the AP staff can confirm. Google did give us a timeframe similar to this at the announcement event, so no one should be surprised. Read More
The ZTE Axon 7 is a solid device, but not everyone's looking for a 5.5-inch phone. Now there's the smaller, less expensive Axon 7 Mini available for pre-order in the US. This device costs a little under $300 and keeps the same aluminum unibody design as its larger sibling. It does take a step down in the spec department, though. Read More
While carriers in the United States and other countries have been dealing with returns and refunds of the now-discontinued Galaxy Note7, customers in India haven't had much to deal with, largely because their Note7 pre-orders hadn't even shipped. Now, to thank those who waited all this time for their pre-ordered Note7s, Samsung India has churned up a pretty sweet offer to customers who choose to grab a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge instead.
Originally, Samsung intended for the Note7 to go on sale on September 2nd in India, but supply shortages caused that date to be moved back significantly - so significantly, in fact, that those who waited for the Note7 still didn't have their phones before the phone's complete cancellation. It's no secret that BlackBerry isn't doing so well these days - the PRIV hasn't sold very well due to its high price point, and the DTEK50 is simply a more expensive, rebadged Alcatel Idol 4 with some BlackBerry software. Though the DTEK60 is also based on an (unreleased) Alcatel/TCL device, it seems like a pretty compelling offering. Read More
The LG V20 is perhaps the best phone released by LG in recent history. Instead of the modular functionality of the LG G5, the V20 was designed as an all-in-one solution for power users. It even has features rare on flagship devices, like a removable battery and a fantastic headphone amp. The V20 is also the only non-Google phone to currently ship with Android 7.0 Nougat.
AT&T has announced pre-orders for the V20 will begin tomorrow, although unfortunately neglected to provide a shipping date. Read More
The Pixels were announced today, and there's no other way to put it - they're pretty expensive. The line starts at $649.99 for the smaller, 32GB Pixel and maxes out at $869.99 for the 128GB XL. That's iPhone-esque pricing (the devices literally cost exactly the same as comparable iPhone 7s do). However, if you're a Verizon customer, you have an option to ease the pain; Best Buy is offering customers who pre-order and activate the Pixel and Pixel XL a $100 gift card and a free Chromecast.
