[Update: UGH] Nexus 6 Pre-Orders Are Live In The US Google Play Store (For Some), Bank Accounts Everywhere Tremble In Fear

Update, 10:30PM CST: Wow, it looks like Google really dropped the ball on this one. While previous Play Store launches have been problematic, today's Nexus 6 pre-order has left the vast majority of prospective buyers high and dry. Google seems to have sold out of a low initial stock almost instantly, and there was never a single point in the afternoon where you could reliably go to the Play Store and pay for a phone.

OnePlus One Pre-Orders Begin At 11AM Eastern Today

Update: Predictably, the OnePlus site is struggling to stay up under a barrage of traffic just minutes after pre-orders went live.

--

If you've been waiting patiently to get your hands on the OnePlus One, or even if you haven't been waiting patiently at all, the "flagship killer" is going on sale in a slightly more conventional way later this morning. OnePlus is scheduled to open its pre-order system at 11AM Eastern, 8AM Pacific US time, when customers will actually be able to pay for a phone immediately in the expectation of actually getting it at some point.

The Nexus Player's Gamepad That Was Listed As Sold Out Is Now Available For Pre-Order Again

The Nexus Player's pre-order saga has been an interesting one to say the least. First the device went up for pre-order with its accompanying gamepad, then it was marked as 'out of inventory' because it hadn't passed the FCC certification just yet, and finally it became available for pre-order again a week ago. Its gamepad however, went out of stock about the same time the player's pre-orders were halted, but didn't return with it.

OnePlus One Pre-Orders Will Be Available Starting October 27th, Discounted Accessories Thrown In For Good Measure

In the Android Police review of the OnePlus One, we called it "the best flagship you can't buy." That will change soon: the independent and often divisive manufacturer has finally seen fit to set aside its invitation system and start selling phones the old-fashioned way. Pre-orders will be available via OnePlus.net starting on Monday, October 27th at 15:00 GMT (8 AM Eastern time).

The FCC's Testing Report On The Nexus Player Is Finished, But It's Still Not Available For Pre-Order

In the United States, all electronic devices that use certain wireless radio transmissions, including cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other standards and frequencies, must be approved by the Federal Communications Commission. It's technically illegal for retailers to sell devices that haven't been approved, which is probably why Google had to rapidly remove the Nexus Player pre-order status from the Play Store on Friday. But now the results of the FCC's tests on the Player have been posted to the Commission website.

Play Movies 3.3 Lets You Pre-Order New Movies And Stream Them As Soon As They Come Out [APK Download]

The latest version of the Google Play Movies app has been rolling out to users over the course of the past week, and while we found in the code that the changes had something to do with placing pre-orders, we had to wait for Google to flip a switch somewhere for the functionality to get exposed. Now that Google has taken to its social network with the news, consider that switch flipped.
