Ever since it made started making (and, somehow, still hasn't completed) the transition from Android TV to Google TV, Google has been looking for ways to entice viewers to buy a new Chromecast. Well, it has just come up with two of them.

Pluto TV is one of the leaders in the free online TV industry, offering dozens of ad-supported channels corresponding to real-life networks (NBC, Nick, etc.) and various topics (old movies, gaming, etc.). However, it seems like Pluto TV has suffered a security breach, with millions of account details from 2018 now available online.

Google Play Movies adds support for DC Universe, Epix Now, and Pluto TV

Look your show up on Play Movies, watch it on those apps with the tap of a button

One of the good things about Google Play Movies is that if you have a whole bunch of OTT apps or streaming subscriptions, the app will actually link you to those services if the shows you're looking for are available there. Three new services are now being recognized: DC Universe, Epix Now, and Pluto TV. But those services won't be prompted for everyone at the same time.

This app has tons of free live TV and movies streaming 24/7

If you've never heard of Pluto TV before, we aren't surprised: the app gets shockingly little attention for the tons of truly, actually free streaming video content it offers from huge names like Cartoon Network, FOX, and even major movie studios (there's literally a James Bond channel streaming Bond films 24/7). Pluto does have some limitations and quirks, but overall, if you're looking for stuff you probably won't find on Netflix, or that otherwise is often only available on cable cordcutter services like Hulu TV or YouTube TV, Pluto will surprise you with the breadth and depth of its library. Here's how it all works.

Let's face it: The coronavirus quarantine would be that much more unbearable without smartphones, Wi-Fi, and streaming services to keep us entertained. If you've only been binging movies and Tiger King on Netflix, though, you're completely missing out on another source of content. Here's how you can access live TV on your existing family of devices, including Android phones, Chromecast, Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and more.

Lots of folks are probably watching Pluto TV these days, given that it's free, cross-platform, and has tons of streaming channels (including live news). Those of you using it on Android may notice a new interface the next time you fire the app up. Originally landing on other platforms like iOS and Roku, now it's made its way to Android.

Media giant Viacom announced yesterday that it's come to an agreement with free streaming TV provider Pluto TV to purchase the service for the seemingly absurd sum of $340 million in cash. Viacom sees the platform as a way to attract customers to its paid streaming platforms, including such offerings as Comedy Central Now and Noggin.

Free television streaming service Pluto TV updated its Android app to v3.5, adding Oreo picture-in-picture support, the ability to resume previously-watched On Demand content, and settings to configure the stream quality to conserve data.

Pluto TV continues its climb into relevance. For those of you who don't know, Pluto TV is a television service that provides access to news, live sports, and themed channels for free. The company just received a $5 million investment from Samsung of all places. This money will be used to expand Pluto TV's content and marketing reach.

Pluto TV is a free television streaming service that broadcasts over 100 live news, sports, and other channels. The one thing that might irritate some people is that you can't just watch the stuff you want — you only get what's on. Regardless, it's an interesting value proposition.

To cord cutters, a trip to pluto.tv might feel a bit like going back in time. You have a list of channels and a TV guide. You don't pick what plays—you watch whatever is on.
