App Deals: Plants Vs. Zombies, NBA JAM Both On Sale For $0.99 (North America Only)

Looks like EA is doing a little spring cleaning trying to clear the back stock of some older games, because it just dropped the price of Plants vs. Zombies and NBA JAM to a buck each. And just for the record, those are two of my absolute favorite games on Android. Both are requisite installs in my book.

So, whether you want to protect your house from zombies with plants that spit stuff, or play a game of two-on-two with some of your favorite players in the NBA, today's the day to make it happen for only a dollar each.

The last Humble Bundle for Android just ended, but if that wasn't quite enough to slake your desire for gaming on the go, may I interest you in the Humble Mobile Bundle? The primary difference between this one and the last is that this package won't include Steam codes for the desktop counterparts. Only Android. However, the four primary games you get are Contre Jour, Anomaly Korea, Plants vs. Zombies and Bladeslinger. If you pay more than the average ($5.38 at time of writing, but ~$7 is typical throughout the life of the sale), you can unlock Metal Slug 3 and The Room.

Verizon Brings Subscription-Based GameTanium Service To Customers, Offers 'Over 100 Games' For Six Bucks A Month

Show of hands, Verizon users: who's excited to shell out another six bucks a month to Big Red? Verizon and its new partner Extent hope that you are. Today they've introduced the GameTanium Mobile subscription-based service exclusively for Verizon's customers, bringing "more than 100 of the best Android smartphone games and more than 50 tablet games" to subscribers. The fee will show up on customers' phone bill every month, but Verizon has generously offered a three day trial.

Scoff if you must (and I can hear plenty of our readers winding up already) but on the surface it's a decent deal, assuming that you want to play all of the titles being offered.

Plants Vs. Zombies And Peggle Finally Land In The Android Market, But Don't Get Excited Just Yet - Your Device May Not Be Supported

We've all certainly been waiting quite a while for PvZ and Peggle to shed their Amazon Appstore exclusivity and land in the Android Market. That day has finally arrived, but it's not all good in the hood - in typical EA fashion, many users are getting the old "your device is not supported" crap when trying to install either game.

In case you don't recall, the original creator of both games, PopCap, was purchased by EA for a cool $1.3 Billion back in July. EA is known for having less-than-ideal device support, and it looks like these two games are no exception.

P.S. Unavailable on the Hero and XOOM but available on the Tab 10.1 and EVO? I can maybe understand the Hero, but the XOOM?..

Update: According to the comments, the game should work on devices listed as unavailable - you just have to buy it in the web version of the Appstore and then download as usual within the Appstore app. Odd stuff.

PopCap's Plants Vs Zombies Finally Reaches Android - Free Download Today On The Amazon Appstore

The wait is over, guys - PopCap's hands down best game, Plants Vs Zombies, finally reached Android minutes ago after many months of anticipation. Normally $2.99, PvZ is available for free exclusively on the Amazon Android Appstore.

The game is a little on the heavy side - be prepared to dedicate 75MB of free space to it (though at least in CyanogenMod, all but 232KB can be moved to SD without any problems).

After a period of exclusivity, PopCap will upload it to the Android Market for everyone to use - until then, it's just us, U.S. folks. Sorry, rest of the world :( (unless you use the tricks posted in the comments that is ;)).

Bring It On: PopCap Is Bringing Plants Vs. Zombies To Android Within The Next Two Months

I remember when I first saw Plants vs. Zombies. I believe it was before I had an Android phone (*gasp*) and, even though it originated on the desktop, a friend of mine showed it to me on his iPhone. Once I got my OG Droid, it was one of the first games that I searched for in the Market, but of course it was irritatingly absent. So I waited... and waited... and waited.

Finally all of that waiting has [almost] paid off, because Popcap has officially announced that Plants Vs Zombies would be coming to Android within the next two months!

Plants Vs Zombies

I loved Plants Vs Zombies on my PC. LOVED it. I don't get excited by games much anymore but Plants Vs Zombies by PopCap captured my full attention for weeks when it just came out a couple of years back. A version for the iPhone came out later and enjoyed similar success to the original game. PopCap's Android page, however, has been quite empty. Literally:

Will PopCap ever release an Android variant? It's possible, but in the meantime, we have to quench our PvZ thirst by finding existing alternatives in the Market.
