Pixel phones come with Quick Switch Adapter, can migrate data from another iOS or Android device

Moving all your data to a new device can be annoying at best, and one of the Pixel's newest features aims to help that. Google's Pixel devices ship with an OTG adapter, referred to as the 'Quick Switch Adapter', that allows you to easily transfer all your data to a Pixel phone. The process works with any iOS device running iOS 8 and up, as well as most Android devices running 5.0 Lollipop or higher.

So how does it work? Simply connect the adapter to your Pixel, and plug your old phone's charging/data cable into it. Once you are signed in with your Google account, you can choose what data to copy.

[Deal Alert] 64GB Corsair Flash Voyager GO MicroUSB OTG Flash Drive Drops To Lowest Price On Amazon, $22.99

I like managing local files. I like copying data over to flash drives and moving them around regardless of whether I have Internet access. I like knowing I can cram a stick of flash memory into my device and access files that wouldn't fit on internal storage.

But I don't like cables. They take up excess space, and they look like a mess. As much as I enjoy transferring files, plugging one device into another using a cable still strikes me as tedious.

A microUSB OTG flash drive is a nice workaround.

[New App] Root Transmission Lets You Root Other Android Devices Using Your Own Via OTG Cable

Is rooting phones a hassle for you? Do you want to root somebody else's phone (whether they're willing or not), but don't want to deal with that whole pesky "getting permission" part? (Or dealing with teaching them how to go about doing it?)

A new app over at XDA by wchill may have you covered. I say "may" because it's still in a very early beta stage, but the response so far from the community has been pretty positive.

Root Transmission requires three things: 1.) a rooted Android device with USB hosting capability, 2.) a USB OTG cable, 3.) a one-click rooting script for the device you're trying to root.

PSA: Amazon Has A USB OTG Cable For Less Than A Dollar With Free Shipping, So You Should Probably Buy It

On devices without a full-size USB port (read: most), using external USB peripherals - like keyboards, mice, game controllers, etc. - is basically a non-experience. In order to use said accessories, you need an OTG cable, which essentially converts the microUSB port of a device into a full-size port.

Right now, you can get one such cable from Amazon for $0.83. Yes, eighty-three cents. That's crazy cheap. Not only is this cable useful and affordable, but the shipping's free, too. You really have no excuse not to buy this right now. So do yourself a favor and hit the link below.
