Verizon Approves Droid 4 Jelly Bean (4.1) Update, Will Roll Out 'Soon'

Verizon has very surprisingly been killing it lately with Jelly Bean updates for various devices. Today, the Droid 4 is joining the pack with an imminent upgrade to Android 4.1. The rollout hasn't begun just yet, but support docs have shown up on the carriers website indicating that the update will be 'Coming Soon.'

Of course, the major benefits of Android 4.1 are obvious: access to Google Now (which can be updated directly from the Play Store after that), improved voice controls, expandable notifications, and voice transcription even when you don't have a data connection. Verizon has also improved connectivity with the mobile hotspot app and no longer includes Sling and MOG as preloaded applications, so you can remove those if you'd like.

T-Mobile's Galaxy Note II Gets An LTE-Activating OTA; Amaze 4G Gets Security Fixes

Well, T-Mobile just got its first LTE device. It's not the already announced SIII, either – it's the Galaxy Note II. That's right, the first LTE-compatible phone comes to T-Mobile by way of OTA update. Owners of Samsung's massive smartphone should be able to pull the 9MB right now, which also brings "various device improvements" along for the ride. Basically, it makes the already-powerful device faster and less buggy.

For those who are rooted and want in on the LTE action, you can grab both odexed and deodexed versions of the ROM, as well as the new modem and kernel files for your flashing pleasure over at XDA.

Motorola Electrify 2 Currently Getting The Bump To Android 4.1.2

If you decided Motorola's successor to the Electrify was the perfect choice of phone for you, the time has come to head into the Settings > About Phone > System Updates menu, because Moto has started pushing the Android 4.1.2 update to the device. Verizon Approves Update 9.16.6 For The RAZR HD And MAXX HD, Lots Of Bug Fixes And Improvements Coming Your Way

While Big Red may have just started pushing Jelly Bean to the OG RAZR/MAXX twins, the more modern HD variants of the devices are set to get a decent bug-fix-update as well. The details of the OTA just hit Verizon's support site, which generally means the update is ready to go and should begin rolling out within a few days.

Looks like it's going to bring fixes-a-plenty, covering everything from security to data roaming and Wi-Fi connectivity. Here's a slightly easier-to-read list:

Google Security Patches have been added for additional security
Data roaming fix has been implemented
Connection/disconnection detection has been improved when using USB
Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
Wallpaper options are shown when home screen icons are selected
Camera improvements have been made to touch-to-focus, notifications and low light performance
In-call audio routes to earpiece when connected to headset has been improved
Improvements to video streaming pixilation have been made
Media sync stability has been improved

Sprint's Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Finally Getting Jelly Bean, Should Be Rolling Out Now

It's been a long time coming, but Sprint's version of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is finally getting updated to Jelly Bean (Android 4.2.1). There are quite a few reasons to pull this update, as it brings several enhancements over Ice Cream Sandwich, including Google Now, Project Butter (for smoothness), enhanced notifications, lockscreen widgets, and much more.

Aside from that, the update also brings a "Wi-Fi Qualcomm driver fix" so the device will automatically connect to the most recent Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as a "device self activation client update." Sounds intense.

According to Sprint's post, the update should be rolling out now OTA, though there's no word of whether or not you can pull it through Kies.

Verizon Approves Build VS95011B For The LG Intuition, Should Begin Rolling Out Soon

Verizon's LG Intuition has long been an awkward kid at the lunch table. With a 5" display at 4:3 resolution, it's had a difficult time being accepted, much less competing. Even so, it has not been completely forgotten – Verizon is preparing to roll out a maintenance update to the device that will remove the Color and V Cast apps, fix some assorted bugs, and should improve speakerphone quality. There is one curious detail to this update, it also adds the Amazon Appstore. Are Verizon and Amazon becoming closer friends?

While this update may not bring a new version of the Android OS, the international version – the Optimus Vu – is expected to receive a bump to 4.1 sometime this quarter.

Android 4.2.2 (Build JDQ39) For Verizon Galaxy Nexus Rolling Out To Testers, OTA Imminent?

In the pantheon of devices bearing the name Nexus, there is one obvious black sheep. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus never really got the update love that GSM Nexus devices have, and there was that whole Google Wallet debacle. While the updates haven't been flowing quite like owners had hoped, a version of Android 4.2.2 is now rolling out to Verizon testers. It may only be a matter of time before the update is official.

The JDQ39 build of Jelly Bean brings updated radios to the Verizon Gnex, which it definitely needs. The new version will also include all the 4.2 goodies like quick settings, lock screen widgets, and photospheres.

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Jelly Bean Update (JZO54K.I200VRBMA1) Coming Soon, Google Now Comes To The Mid-Range

Samsung seems to have gotten the hang of updating phones besides the major flagships. While it's still coming about nine months after the release of Jelly Bean and nearly six months after the release of the handset, the Galaxy Stellar will be upgraded to 4.1 "soon", according to these Verizon support docs. The OTA will bring the much-beloved Google Now as well as expandable notifications and all the other goodies of the newest tasty treat.

The update is 403.6MB in size, so you're going to want to be on WiFi when you download it. While we don't yet know exactly when the OTA will start, it usually doesn't take too long between the arrival of these support docs and the initial rollout.

Sprint's Galaxy S III Getting A Small OTA Update To Build L710VPMB1

Earlier this month, The Now Network pushed an update to its version of the Samsung Galaxy S III with a few small fixes in it. That update was build L710VPMA6. Today, the company is sending another update to the Galaxy S III that is essentially the same update, plus one addition: 3rd party software licensing. This one's build L710VPMB1, will hit your device regardless of whether or nor you installed the previous update.

So, for those wondering, here's the full changelog:

Per Sprint, "this is a new release of L710VPBMA6, but also includes additional 3rd party software licenses." We're not sure why the company decided to rehash a previous update with one additional feature (as opposed to sending that feature out on its own), but alas, that's what it did.
