The Original Moto X Is Finally Getting Its Lollipop Soak Test

Motorola gained a lot of good will by updating its latter phones to the newest version of Android, starting with the Moto X. Even carrier-customized versions of that phone tended to get new incremental updates to KitKat long before other manufacturers' devices. But for some reason, the 2013 Moto X has lagged far behind for updates to Lollipop. Now, five months after Android 5.0 first started rolling out to Nexus devices, the OG Moto X is finally getting its Lollipop update.

Sprint Says The Nexus 6 Android 5.1 Update Will Be Out Today

No sooner had Google announced the Android 5.1 update, that the factory images for the new version started popping up for some Nexus devices. Notably absent, however, was Google's latest and greatest — the Nexus 6. If you're using this phone and you are impatient about getting the software update, you should be happy to know that the wait is almost over, hopefully.

[Update: Rolling Out] T-Mobile's HTC One M7 Lollipop Update Scheduled For Tuesday, March 10th

Hey, HTC One M7 (2013) owners on T-Mobile, are you jealous of your counterparts in Europe, or on Sprint, or those who use the Developer Edition? You know, because they all have the Lollipop update (or at least access to a ROM file) before you do?

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 Gets Android Lollipop OTA Update

When T-Mobile added a new update tracking progress meter to its website last week, the Galaxy Note 3 was listed as undergoing T-Mobile testing, the second step in a three-step process to deliver Android 5.0. Soon it should be moving up a notch, as a changelog has hit Samsung's site saying that today's the day the carrier starts pushing out the over-the-air update to consumers.

In addition to Lollipop, the changelog makes references to Wi-Fi calling, including a fix for a one way audio issue.

Verizon Xperia Z2 Tablet Gets An OTA Update With PS4 Remote Play Support And A Few Other Tweaks

I don't know how many tablets Verizon typically sells, especially if you limit that to non-iPads. But however many of you picked up the admittedly neat Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet from Big Red, check your status bar for an update alert. Today's software update adds something even neater: the ability to remotely play games on your PlayStation 4 over your home Wi-Fi network. You'll need the official Remote Play app and a Dual Shock 4 controller to take advantage of it.

Lollipop Update For Moto X (2nd Gen) On AT&T Shows Up Over Three Months Late To The Party

It takes a while to fit the latest version of Android on a device, get it carrier certified, and push it out to users. I get that. But for whatever reason, AT&T's version of the 2014 Moto X got lost in the shuffle. While the pure edition of the flagship phone received Lollipop back in November, with Verizon following shortly thereafter, AT&T's version is apparently only just now going out over the air.

T-Mobile's Website Now Has A New Software Update Progress Meter To Help Track OTAs

General users may not care all that much about software updates, but we smartphone geeks anticipate their arrival with the kind of enthusiasm that most holidays fail to muster. So T-Mobile has added a tracker to its website that will help folks like us keep tabs on over-the-air updates for high-end devices.

T-Mobile's software update tracker breaks the process down into three stages: Manufacturer Development, T-Mobile Testing, and Completed.

Some Verizon Ellipsis 7 Owners Report Boot Loops After KitKat Over-The-Air Update

The Verizon Ellipsis 7 is probably not the first choice for tablets among Android Police readers. It's a low-end, whitebox tablet from some no-name OEM that Verizon has rebranded in order to create a product that could sit at the very bottom of its tablet lineup. Even so, those people who did buy an Ellipsis 7 (or got one for free in various packaged promotions) were probably quite happy to see the KitKat update come in a couple of weeks ago..

Lollipop Update Starts Rolling Out To Android One Devices In India In A Gradual Weekly Process

Good news, Android One users in India! Whether you bought a Karbonn Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1, or Spice Dream UNO, you have probably felt a little bit abandoned when Lollipop was released and your device was left running Android 4.4.4, while new phones launching in Indonesia and the Philippines have been donned not only with Lollipop, but with Android 5.1!
