Pre-Orders Go Live For AT&T, Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

We've seen a lot of news surrounding Samsung's Galaxy Note II in the past 24 hours, from T-Mobile's official launch all the way down to Lebron James' custom Note II cover. We've got one more piece of news before the day's done though – pre-orders for the Note II's AT&T and Verizon variants have just gone live.

Those looking to grab the AT&T-connected Note II will need to shell out an unsurprising $299.99 with 2-year activation, and can expect their devices to ship out on November 6th, just in time for the network's November 9th launch date. It's worth noting though that (at least for now) AT&T is only offering up the "Titanium Gray" Note II.

Earlier today, Amazon announced a slew of new Kindle products: a refreshed 8GB Fire, brand new 16/32GB Fire HD 7" and 16/32GB Fire HD 8.9", including 32/64GB LTE-enabled variants, and a Kindle Paperwhite which doesn't run Android. The pre-order links weren't working right away, but they've just gone live, and I have them all for you right here.

HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE Officially Coming To Verizon July 5th For $149.99 After Mail-In Rebate

Back at the beginning of May, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE was made official, with Verizon's press release stating that the device would be available in the "coming weeks." Well, it's now July, and it looks like those "~~coming~~" eight weeks have finally reached their end - Big Red has at long last announced that the device will go on sale on July 5th, just as expected.

The handset, shown above in all its Sense 4.0 glory, won't exactly be the biggest or most powerful device on the market - its processor is dual-core, and its screen is only a 4-inch qHD model.

Judge Posner To Apple: Injunctions Are Not Meant For Small Software Feature Patents, Case Tossed

After an injunction hearing earlier this week, Judge Posner has issued his final decision on whether to throw out the Motorola v. Apple case. The result? You're (both) outta here.

Judge Posner dismissed both parties' cases with prejudice earlier this evening (meaning Apple and Moto cannot refile against one another on these issues in any other federal court). Apple will, of course, appeal.

Posner's feeling on Apple's insistent demand for an injunction against Motorola's smartphone products was summed up best by the following excerpt from the decision:

And while the patents themselves (or some of them at least) may well have considerable value, after the claims constructions by Judge Crabb and myself and after my grants of partial summary judgment only a handful of the original patent claims remain in the case; infringement of that handful may not be a source of significant injury past, present, or future.

[Update: False Alarm] Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 32GB Now Up For Pre-Order On Amazon: $550, Shipping In 3-5 Weeks

Update: We've heard from Samsung that this page was put up by Amazon by mistake (aka, it was set to auto-publish), and has since been taken down. If you submitted an order, it'll likely be refunded in a short time, if it hasn't already. We can still take something from this, though - the Note 10.1 is coming soon (probably next month), and it'll likely be $550 for the 32GB version.

Judge Throws Out Apple's Patent Lawsuit Against Motorola, Says Neither Party Can Prove Any Real Damages

The presiding judge in the Motorola v. Apple case in Illionois, Richard Posner, has just handed down an order dismissing all claims of both parties in the case, just as it was set to go to trial on Monday. Posner's preliminary order (he'll be writing a full decision soon, which I can't wait to read) basically says neither party was able to show that the infringement of patents by the other resulted in the production of evidence that said infringement actually caused them any harm.

Posner goes even further, in fact, and declares that Apple (and Motorola's) requests for injunctive relief are simply not tenable in a case where the patents in question are such small parts of much larger products:

Because the parties believe that damages are an adequate remedy for the alleged infringements (though they failed to present evidence on damages strong enough to withstand summary judgment), and because injunctive relief would impose costs disproportionate to the harm to the patentee and the benefit of the alleged infringement to the alleged infringer and would be contrary to the public interest, I cannot find a basis for an award of injunctive relief.

Domino's Pizza Introduces App For US Customers – Create, Order, And Track Pizzas From Anywhere

After releasing apps for both UK/Ireland and Australia/New Zealand markets, Domino's Pizza has finally introduced an official app for Android users in the US, bringing the aptly named Domino's Pizza USA app to the Android Market recently.

The app has all the functionality of the pizza maker's online ordering system, with a streamlined, intuitive interface. Users can view the national menu, order from nearly 5,000 locations, and even find location-specific coupons.

The Domino's Pizza USA app also allows users to pay for their pizza via in-app purchase, and remembers location and other preferences (meaning you'll never have to log in).

One of the hottest gadgets of this holiday season, the Transformer Prime (see our preview and review), is scheduled to be released the week of December 19th - that would be any day now starting today. In anticipation of the launch, Amazon re-launched pre-orders for all four color/size combinations after they went dark, disappeared completely, and even got cancelled in some cases shortly after the first wave was sold out.

Web Android Market Finally Allows Sorting Of User Reviews By Newest, Rating, Or Helpfulness

Bringing probably one of the most useful changes to the web Android Market since its reveal, Google just rolled out an update to how user reviews can be sorted. But first, a little bit of history. When the Market was released, all reviews were sorted in a natural reverse chronological order.

At some point later, Google changed the sort to float most helpful reviews to the top (whatever that algorithm may be), which infuriated many as now old and oftentimes irrelevant reviews showed up above newer, more useful ones.
