Well, this is...odd. To say the least. Tonight, Negri Electronics, which is a well-respected and reputable dealer in consumer electronics, tweeted the picture of a partially-unboxed Galaxy Note 10.1, claiming that the device "Ships 8/3", and included the hashtag "#beforefirst." It's a little unclear what "#beforefirst" means. Maybe Negri gets to ship the product before everyone else? Or is it that pre-orders are starting? You can pre-order on Negri's site right now, so maybe that's it.

While Verizon tries to figure out how to get people to want the Optimus Vu, T-Mobile has just announced that everyone's favorite phablet – the Samsung Galaxy Note – will be available on the magenta network "in the coming weeks." This isn't exactly a concrete timeframe, nor does it align with previous rumors of a July 11th release. It will also be interesting to see whether Sammy does indeed announce a Galaxy Note 2 in Berlin in accordance with recent rumblings.

Update: We've heard from Samsung that this page was put up by Amazon by mistake (aka, it was set to auto-publish), and has since been taken down. If you submitted an order, it'll likely be refunded in a short time, if it hasn't already. We can still take something from this, though - the Note 10.1 is coming soon (probably next month), and it'll likely be $550 for the 32GB version.

One of the most surprising things about the Galaxy Note 10.1's appearance at MWC was not that it included Samsung's magical S-Pen peripheral, but the fact that the device lacked a slot to store the advanced stylus.

Those familiar with the original Galaxy Note will remember that it features a convenient slot to house the S-Pen, ensuring that the stylus would always stick with the device, thereby encouraging users to, well, use it.

The update for devices running Gingerbread to the latest Ice Cream Sandwich have been erratic at best. Although Samsung has promised updates for its smartphones and tablets, the overall rollout has been quite unpredictable with different markets getting upgrades before others.

There have been numerous indications that the Galaxy Note would be receiving an update to ICS at some point, however aside from the occasional leak there has been no official announcement.

OK, as much as I like to make fun of the Note, it's actually a pretty awesome phone that a lot of people want, and so news that it's coming to T-Mobile is nothing to scoff at. Photos published by TmoNews all but confirm the gargantuan Galaxy is headed to America's pinkest (and leatheriest) carrier, giving credence to a UA string and some FCC filings unearthed last week.

If you've been eyeing Samsung's Galaxy Note but don't want to pay full price, 1SaleADay may be able to help. 1SaleADay has listed the Unlocked, 16GB variety of the Galaxy Note on eBay for just $549.99 (with free shipping). That's a cool $50 less than the last deal we saw on the Note.

For those that may not be familiar with Sammy's first ever "phablet," the Note, which promises "the best of a phone and a tablet," has some pretty sweet specs (including its luxuriously enormous display):

  • 5.3" Super AMOLED display
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread (with ICS reportedly on the way in Q2)
  • S Pen Stylus
  • 16GB Internal Storage (with microSD slot)
  • 8MP Rear camera / 2MP front-facing shooter
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1.4GHz dual-core processor
  • 2500mAh Battery

Sound good?

When we heard about rumors of Samsung releasing a 10.1-inch version of the popular Galaxy Note smartphone, we were understandably a bit skeptical. I mean, the idea makes sense - a larger Note would mean more area to use that advanced pressure-sensitive stylus. But given that Samsung has yet to announce a Galaxy Tab 10.1 successor, it seemed a bit odd. But now, the Note 10.1 is obviously for-real, and we spent a little time with it today.

The Samsung Galaxy Note (and its unheard of size) has been a hot topic since its AT&T release this past week, and we have seen quite a few conflicting opinions on the practicality of the device over the last few days. Many say that the gigantic screen prevents users from carrying it around comfortably, while others claim that it doesn't feel much different than any other phone. I've had the pleasure of using the Note for the past week, and I must say that I am incredibly impressed.

Those still waiting for a hot deal on Samsung's gargantuan Galaxy Note are in luck – AT&T is offering the Note at 50% off for new or add-a-line customers if you click through a special link that enables the discount.

To take advantage of the deal, customers need only to head over to AT&T's site, choose the Samsung Galaxy Note for a new or add-a-line contract (it'll show the full price at this point - just keep on trucking), and continue with checkout.
