The Nexus line is still one of the few places you can find Android 4.2. The software on most Nexuses has zero interference from carriers and OEMs. That's great for Google as it gets to control the entire software experience. The downside is that there is no one else to point the finger at when something goes wrong. And something is pretty hilariously wrong in the startup wizard on the iPhone – I mean, the Nexus. And the tip of the
day, month, year goes to... Syko Pompos! Here I was, sitting on the couch, trying to order the 16GB Nexus 4 for the last 4 hours. That's a lot of hours practically wasted. And I'm not even talking about the first batch which resulted in exactly the same failures and poor experience.
Turns out, there's a little trick you can use to defeat these errors and finally place your Nexus order. Read More
Earlier this month, we reported on a pretty big omission in Android 4.2's People app: Google forgot December. So, any birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates you may have needed to note for that month were simply impossible to document. Now, though, it looks like El Goog is fixing that issue with a small 1.1MB update. This OTA is, of course, labeled as Android 4.2.1, and aside from the December fix, we're not sure of what else it may bring. Read More
In case you haven't heard (and how could you not?), Google has sold out of pretty much every new Nexus they've launched. If you head to the Play Store as of this writing, you cannot buy a Nexus 4 or Nexus 10. Even the 3G-connected Nexus 7 was unavailable for a while. As if that wasn't enough, customers started receiving emails saying their shiny new Nexus 4s were going to be delayed as much as three weeks. Read More
Update: It looks like the 16GB Nexus 10 is back in stock now. If you were one of the unlucky few who missed the first batch of orders, go ahead and claim yours now.
There's no denying Google's launch of its new Nexus lineup has been a little bumpy. On launch day, we saw near-instantaneous shortages of the Nexus 4 in multiple countries including the US. Shortly after the Nexus 4 sold out in the US, the 32GB Nexus 10 fell. Read More
Thanksgiving isn't just about turkey and mashed potatoes (sorry, I had to), it's also about snapping up deals on the things you've been waiting all year to buy, or the things you've yet to cross off your holiday shopping list.
Sprint, in a newsroom post earlier today, announced that it would be sharing "the gift of 'Unlimited' for the holiday shopping season," revealing a few nice deals customers can take advantage of between Thanksgiving and "Cyber Monday." Read More
Since the Device Frame Generator moved to Google's Android Developer site and received its new name (Device Art Generator), we've heard nary a peep about additional frames or other updates. That appears to have changed today, however – the Device Art Generator now features gorgeous new frames for both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10, of course with the ability to toggle shadow, glare, and rotation. If you're a developer who needs a nice easy way to build promotional collateral, or just an average user who wants to create beautifully-framed screenshots, hit the link below. Read More
Update: At the time of last update, the 16GB Nexus 4 is consistently listed as "Coming Soon," with the 8GB version going up and down. The 32GB Nexus 10 is also consistently listed as "Coming Soon." If we receive any word that these device's are again available, we will update this post.
Just a few (long) hours after Australians got their shot at being the first kids on the block with a brand new Nexus device, it looks like orders have opened up for the US and Canada as well. Read More
If you're a resident of the US waiting for your chance at one of the new Nexus devices, you've no doubt been growing envious as countries around Europe (and Australia) got to place their own orders before (and after) the rumored 12am PST launch time for the US.
Well, I've got some (kind of) good news – the wait is almost over. Google has confirmed to us that both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 will be open for order to US Play Store customers beginning tomorrow, Tuesday November 13th, 2012 at 9:00am PST. Read More
Nexus 7 owners, it's your turn. Earlier this evening, before many countries even had access to Nexus 4 or 10 orders, Google began pushing the 4.2 (JOP40C) update to the Takju Galaxy Nexus. After some patient waiting, it appears the Nexus 7 is now ready for an update as well. In case you don't feel like waiting on the OTA though, we've got the download link and some super-easy instructions for manually updating your favorite 7-inch slate. Read More
