Updated Jelly Bean Factory Images Show Up For The Nexus S and Nexus S 4G

Back in July, Google made available the stock Jelly Bean images for a couple of the Nexus S variants, as well as the GSM Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus 7. Today, the build for the global Nexus S (soja) got updated to Android 4.1.1 (JRO03L), and the Nexus S 4G (sojas) Jelly Bean 4.1.1 image (JRO03R) made its way to Google's image download site, as well.

Unfortunately, there's still no sign of Jelly Bean showing up for the Korean version of the Nexus S (or the LTE Galaxy Nexii, for that matter).

Sprint Nexus S 4G Is Even More Officially Getting Jelly Bean Now, According To Documents In Sprint Forums

There may have been a bit of a false start recently, when a Sprint employee took to the community forums to announce that the rollout of Jelly Bean for the Nexus S had begun. Maybe the rep confused the Nexus S for the Galaxy Nexus, as we hadn't heard any reports that users had received the OTA for the older of the two Nexii. Today, though, Sprint has posted in its forums details on the upgrade, including a release date of today, September 11th.

Sprint Confirms: Nexus S 4G Owners Also Receiving Jelly Bean Update Today, September 6th

Just earlier today, we found Sprint documents that confirmed the Galaxy Nexus variant on the Now Network would be receiving Jelly Bean today. Now, a Sprint employee has confirmed on its community message board that the Nexus S rollout will begin today. As with the GNex update, this will be an OTA, so no, refreshing over and over won't get it to you any faster.

Of course, it's still a reminder that CDMA Nexii get the short end of the stick.

Nexus S 4G Now "Fully Supported In AOSP, With No Restrictions"

In a post to the Android Building group earlier today, Jean-Baptiste Queru announced that Samsung's Nexus S 4G has officially and fully been brought into the AOSP fold. The device is now fully supported by AOSP, meaning its CDMA – and WiMax – binaries can now be "properly" distributed. Here's the full text of the announcement:

[Updated] Pssst, Sprint, That's Not A Nexus S 4G You Have On Your Front Page [Fail]

Everyone screws up at some point in life, but when a company as big as Sprint puts up a front-page banner showing a completely different, highly anticipated phone in place of one that's over a year old, we're going to have no choice but bring it up. And maybe even point the finger. Like so:

I'm sure we all wish the Nexus S 4G looked like that, but that is most definitely not it.

Download And Install The Official Android 4.0.4 (IMM76D) OTA For Sprint Nexus S 4G - No Wipe Required

Five days ago, Sprint announced that the Ice Cream Sandwich OTA was finally ready for the Nexus S 4G, but many of you still haven't received the update prompt. Yesterday, Google released the full OS image for the NS4G, but installing it does a full wipe, which may not be ideal for those just itching to upgrade.

Fortunately, the OTA link on Google's servers was finally found today by a number of AC forum members, which means you no longer have to wait for Sprint/Google and instead update your Nexus on your own.

[Leak] Android 4.0.4 Build IMM76D For The Nexus S 4G Shows Up Online Ready To Flash, Appears To Be The Final Version

Earlier this month, Engadget got word that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Nexus S should resume its rollout "in the coming weeks." This go around, the update is rumored to be rolling out to the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, as well; those rumors appear to be realized with today's leak obtained by Brief Mobile: a fully-flashable, seemingly final build of ICS for the NS4G.
