If you haven't already bought a Nexus 7, you're missing out. It's easily the best Android tablet on the market, bar none. For today only, you can score a 16GB Nexus 7 with official case and free shipping for $250. While the price isn't any different than the 16GB version directly from the Play Store, at least you're getting some freebies out of the deal - roughly a $30(ish) value.

One notable thing about this deal is that you have the choice of either a gray or blue case, the latter of which hasn't even arrived in the Play Store yet.

For some unknown reason, the tech world spent a lot of time over the weekend talking about an upcoming Toys-R-Us tablet for kids called the Tabeo. I'm assuming this is partly because the Wall Street Journal felt the subject was worth covering; past that, I honestly can't put my finger on why this caught anyone's attention. We decided to skip covering this rumor for a number of reasons, but the biggest one is because we wanted to wait for the official PR and spec sheet for the device.

That PR showed up just a little while ago, and honestly, I'm surprised that so many respectable tech outlets decided to post about this tablet.

We've seen some really cool things come along with augmented reality technology. In fact, just a few days ago the Chestburster app made its way to Android, allowing users to finally see what it's like to watch a baby alien tear its way out of things (up to and including actual chests). Now, however, we see augmented reality used in a much more practical manner with a new app called HandsonAR.

With the recent phablet movement and announcement of Verizon's LG Intuition and Samsung's Galaxy Note II, many people are curious about super-sized phones. The main question is: how much larger than my existing phone is it?

Just days after we learned of an expanded international availability, another interesting bit of news may be on the way for the Nexus 7.

According to Paul O'Brien of MoDaCo, a "very well placed insider" has indicated that a 3G-connected variant of the device is on the horizon, expected to be ready for shipping "in around six weeks."

If you've been holding out on buying the Nexus 7 due to its WiFi-only capability, this may be the news you've been waiting for. MoDaCo's source didn't divulge any pricing, availability, or carrier-related details, though the source did indicate that 3G connectivity would constitute the only hardware change to the device.

Google's not pulling any punches this time around with its ads for its newest Nexus device. When it's not physically invading one of the most visited sites on the internet, the Nexus 7 can be found in some adorable videos that play to every one of your sappiest emotions. Take this newest ad, featuring a five-ish-year-old girl reading Curious George, and planning her trip to the moon. (No one tell her just yet, okay?)

The video follows its predecessor entitled Camping in the marketing style of "Look at this! Isn't this adorable?!" It also demonstrates one of the primary features of the Nexus 7: it's tossability.

Good news, everyone! Everyone's favorite Android tablet is finally becoming available in more European countries. Today, the seven inch slate started showing up via Google's online storefront in France, Germany, and Spain. The price will be €199 for the 8GB model and €249 for the 16GB. Of course, once you count for the conversion rates, this means our friends across the pond will be paying a bit more than US customers do. This isn't an uncommon practice for foreign releases, but it still means the tablet will be a little more expensive overseas.

Unfortunately, that's not the only downside.

Movies by Flixster has a very interesting design history. The developers behind this app are usually among the first to adopt new Android design guidelines—they had a Honeycomb-style action bar back when the Xoom was the only Android tablet around—and today it got another new refresh. The good news is that now it looks better on the Nexus 7, as opposed to the broken mess it was before. Now, for the bad news.

It doesn't look very good. Not that it looks bad, mind you. But if you were worried that you'd just be using a bunch of giant phone apps with your shiny new Nexus, Flixster isn't going to do much to put you at ease.

Back in February of 2011, Eric Schmidt took the stage at MWC to announce Google's latest tablet-oriented app: Movie Studio. It was a rather exciting new addition to Google's first foray into the tablet world. This made it possible for tablet users to not just view content, but to create it as well. This was a big deal. At the time, Apple already had a year-long head start on tablets. Not only would Android need a lot of third-party app support, but first-party apps would be essential to the platform's success.

You may recall the Xoom didn't sell too well.

Part of the problem is that Movie Studio sucked.

Piracy is a major issue for Android, and even more so for Android developers, which is why Jelly Bean introduced App Encryption. But this may be a case of the cure being worse than the disease: hundreds of developers of paid apps have chimed in on a Google Code thread, claiming that the encryption (or more accurately, the location of installed and encrypted apps from the Google Play Store) makes their apps entirely unusable, as account information and other stored data is removed after a device reboot. As a result, Google has apparently disabled the security feature for the Play Store on Jelly Bean devices.

Since the Nexus 7 was originally announced, we knew that there were more accessories on the way. For starters, the device has four pogo pins that don't match any currently available accessories. Well, now we're getting a first look at the next batch of extras. For starters, there's a landscape multimedia dock that will be available for $49.99, and will be able to charge the device as well as transmit audio output via a 3.5mm plug. The slides say the dock should be available "Week34 (08/24)", which could mean on August 24th, or at least within that week.

If covers were more your thing, we're also looking at a variety of cases that aren't currently available.
