Everyone who's interested in a tablet that's slightly bigger than the Nexus 7, with a low-resolution screen, plastic construction, and lower specs, raise your hand. It's OK, we'll wait. Anybody? Not even if it bears a striking resemblance to a certain fruit-branded tablet? Acer's hoping for a more fervent response in June, when it plans to release the Iconia A1, a 7.9-inch WiFi tablet with an unusual (for Android) 1024x768 4:3 screen and a 1.2Ghz MediaTek quad-core processor.

The purveyor of cameras and other gadgets is offering up a new 32GB Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi) with a travel case (in grey, blue or pink) for just $229.99. We've long been fans of avast! around here. From the antivirus functionality itself to the brilliant anti-theft features with root support, it's one of the absolute best security apps on the Store today – and it keeps getting better. Take the most recent update, for example.

At this point, avast! is already working with a great app, so the most recent additions have been about streamlining. Simplifying. Taking the good and making it great.

A little less than a year ago, we saw a report that showed the Galaxy Tab was the most popular Android tablet, followed closely by the Kindle Fire. A lot has happened since then. The Nexus 7 has rolled out and set the new bar for what a small, cheap Android tablet should be. So, what's changed worldwide? Well, according to Animoca, not much.

According to the firm—which distributes games and entertainment apps—the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the top Android tablet with 11.8% of its network, followed closely by the 10.1 model of the same line.

Got a dog bite? Maybe a bee sting? Perhaps you're just feeling sad? Google's got a little mid-week pick-me-up in the form of a sizeable giveaway. To promote the new look of the Play Store and the Google Play Twitter account, they're giving away ten Nexus 10 tablets, seven Nexus 7 tablets, four Nexus 4 phones, and no less than a hundred $10 gift cards to the Google Play Store. Unfortunately for our international readers, the sweepstakes is only for US residents.

Update 4/9/13: The deal is back today.

Those who missed out on eBay Daily Deals' recurring deal on the Nexus 7 ($30 VISA gift card, ear buds, 32GB Nexus 7 for $259.99) the last four times we've seen it, Daily Deals has pulled through once again, this time with a significantly better price. Though the 32GB slates up for grabs are refurb and don't come with a random pair of earbuds, $189 is an undeniably good price for a 32GB Nexus 7 which, if new, would cost buyers $249.99 from the Play Store.

It seems that no company can keep a secret for very long. With I/O fast approaching, Google and ASUS are in the spotlight again as details creep out about a pending refresh to the Nexus 7. According to Reuters, two undisclosed sources have leaked plans for a likely release date around July with pricing as low as $149. The tipsters also let slip that the revised tablet will be packing an unspecified Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and that Google hopes to ship 6-8 million units before the start of 2014.

The global rollout continues as Google adds yet another country to the list of places you can order a 16GB Nexus 7. The device showed up in the Play Store today for Rs. 15,999 (roughly $295 USD). No other variants of the tablet appear to be available, though. It's 16 geebees or bust. Currently the store says it will ship by April 5th, but you can order now.

Currently, the only content offerings from Google available on the Play Store are apps and books, but with the pace of advancement lately, it wouldn't surprise us if other services showed up before too long.

Update 3/23/13: The deal is back yet again today.

Update 12/01/12: It's back one more time.

That headline seem oddly familiar? It should, because the same seller had an identical deal going about a week ago. And now it's back.
