Since there's no shortage of good, name-brand cases for the Nexus 7, it's generally not a bad idea to be wary of the cheapies. But after getting a heads up from Bob Severns (the guy who presses the buttons on our podcast), I decided to give a pair of $4 Nanum cases a go. Having never heard of "Nanum" before, I was skeptical of how good this extremely affordable duo would be. But much to my surprise, both of these cases are pretty great.

I ordered both the Multi-Angle Stand case and Ultra Slim Fit case, and while there are a few different colors available, I decided to get both in white.

Way back in July, we saw a leak revealing several new Nexus 7 accessories, including a Pogo Dock, "premium cover," and multiple colors of travel cover, like the grey one that has been available since launch. Two new colors -- pink and light blue -- of that case have now showed up in the Play Store, with availability listed as "coming soon."

As you can see, the two cases are priced equal to their grey counterpart, coming in at $20. We're still waiting to see the rest of colors, along with the other accessories (c'mon, pogo dock!), so maybe these new arrivals are a good sign.

Cases for my devices fall into two camps: there are cases that are merely "there," and cases that "do." The cases in the first camp usually don't serve any other purpose besides scratch/scuff prevention, and the latter group add some utility, usually in the form of bells and whistles. However useful they are, though, is typically offset by one fact: they usually look like ass.

So when I laid my eyes on a DodoCase for the first time, I had a little bit of an epiphany. This was a case that was functional, durable, and had a minimal style that I gravitated to - it also didn't splay out its logo in huge, ghastly font or make me unwrap it like a Christmas gift in order to get to my tablet.
