Google I/O is coming! We'll know about all of Google's new projects in just 2 ~~short~~ agonizingly long weeks. While we desperately count the days until May 15th, we thought it would be a great idea to take stock all of the things we've caught wind of lately.

Calling this an "I/O Preview," sounds a little too certain. I'm not predicting everything here will come out at I/O, this is just a list of everything we know Google is working on - their "To-Do" list. Just like any to-do list, Google could cross something off and release it, or endlessly procrastinate, or completely cancel something.

New York Times App Updated To Version 3.0 With Adaptable (Tablet-Optimized) UI And More

It's always exciting to see a new app hit the Play Store intended for tablets, but it's even better to see an existing app's UI updated to accommodate larger devices. Looking to bring Android tablet users a more aesthetically pleasing experience when reading the news, the New York Times Company today updated its app to version 3.0 with an interface that is no longer just a blown up version of its phone-centric counterpart.

That isn't to say the interface is totally new, however. As NYT indicates, the UI is now adaptable, meaning it reacts to your device's display to deliver the most appropriate interface for the form factor.

Washington Post Finally Makes Its Way To Android, Official App Now Available

Following the lead of the New York Times, the Economist, Guardian, and other mainstream publications, the venerable Washington Post has finally decided to launch its own Android app. The app is fairly polished and its content covers a variety of subjects including, politics, opinions, sports, lifestyle, business, technology, travel, and entertainment.

In addition to the articles, the app also includes the following features:

Comprehensive weather information, with hourly updates and 7-day forecasts for cities around the world. Residents of the Washington DC area can also use the weather maps, radar images, and weather alerts features
Washington DC area users will also receive traffic information, including real-time alerts, traffic cams with live snapshots of road conditions, and continuous updates from Dr.

The Guardian Launches Official Android App

The Guardian is one of the most popular daily newspapers printed in Britain and its web portal, Guardian.co.uk, is also a leading online newspaper, containing nearly all the articles of its parent as well as significant original content. Unlike other web portals of printed publications such as the New York Times and the Economist, all the articles on Guardian.co.uk are freely accessible. To continue ensuring it remains the leading publication in all formats, Guardian has launched an Android app delivering all the latest content from Guardian.co.uk to Android phones and tablets.

The app is very similar to the Economist and New York Times Android apps, with plenty of content culled from various sources as well as images, videos and audio extracts.

[New App] PressReader For Honeycomb Brings A Real Newspaper Experience To Your Android Tablet

While Honeycomb already has a few good magazine readers, like Zinio for example, there isn't much in the area of newspaper readers. Enter PressReader for Honeycomb, a new app that brings over 1,800 different newspapers from 95 different countries to your Android tablet.

PressReader allows you to read your favorite newspaper in digital format while still retaining its printed appearance. You can set up automatic subscriptions, sort through publications by language and location, share articles, or even listen to your paper. While reading, you can flip through pages in a natural manner, pan and zoom, or tap on a headline to see the article in its text-only formatting for easy readability.

[New App] UK Newspaper The Times Hits The Android Market

Good news for those of you in the UK (or anyone else that likes to keep up with UK news): The Times for Android has finally hit the Android Market! The app brings The Times and The Sunday Times to the palm of your hand, with "the latest stories on your screen almost as fast as they are written," according to the Market description. It also allows you to customize the layout for quick access to the news that you care about, full picture galleries, and the ability to save stories for later.

Unfortunately, it looks like this version is more of an open beta, and will only be free for a limited amount of time.

[New App] The Wall Street Journal Has Finally Come To Android Phones

Remember that version of the Wall Street Journal app that was made for Android tablets (but not Honeycomb tablets)? Yeah, it didn't make a whole lot of sense to us, either. Fortunately, the folks over at the WSJ have finally decided to release an app specifically designed for phones.

Now you can access everything that you love about the WSJ from the palm of you hand. Don't have time to read an article as soon as you see it? No worries, the app allows you to save articles so you can read them later. If you're in the giving mood, you can also easily share content through various social networking sites or email.
