Imagine combining Angry Birds, Final Fantasy Tactics, SpongeBob SquarePants, westerns, and so much more in a single game. I'm not sure if there is a better way to describe Squids Wild West by The Game Bakers, but it's pretty darn fun.

Squids Wild West picks up where the original SQUIDS left off. The sea is being corrupted by a black ooze that threatens to destroy the lives of our quirky underwater heroes. They must fend off infected crustaceans while searching for a way to stop the dark slime from consuming them all.

The game is loaded with colorful, western-inspired characters with a style that blends Angry Birds with SpongeBob SquarePants.

Wild West stories are alright, but you can only rob so many stagecoaches before things become boring. Developer Kerosene Games is refreshing this classic trope by adding a little horror and steampunk to the mix in Bladeslinger. This game is finally available on Android, but most devices aren't supported yet.

Bladeslinger is the masterfully-told story of general-purpose badass William Glaston. After returning to his home town of Hammer's Peak, he finds the place overrun with demons and monsters. Not one to back down, Glaston decides to show the ancient evil who's boss. You control the slashing and shooting action with touch gestures across multiple expansive 3D environments.

What happens in the unlikely event that a shark falls in love with a space dog? Clearly, the shark will follow the dog into space, because blast your logic! If Astro Shark is going to be reunited with Laika the space dog, he's going to have to dodge some missiles and travel the stars. Romantic, no?

Astro Shark is a physics-fueled adventure game that involves hopping from one planet to the next to gain speed and evade missiles. Along the way you are awarded stars for pulling off various stunts and accomplishing objectives. There are also a number of cinematic sequences that expand on the story line, if that's your thing.

Everyone's favorite game studio, Electronic Arts, has released the third incarnation of its "hyper-realistic" racing series. Real Racing 3 is in the Play Store, but appears to be available only in certain countries right now. The North American listing isn't working for us, but the international version appears to be functional for at least some folks. Although, considering the bizarre new in-app purchase upsell, maybe you're not missing much.

The Real Racing series makes its name by licensing dozens of authentic cars. This time players have 45 different rides to enjoy from manufacturers like Audi, Bugatti, and Porsche. There are a whopping 900 regular events to race, and the game includes an interesting time-shifted multiplayer mechanic.

Sometimes game development just doesn't go as planned. New challenges appear, deadlines are pushed back, and entire projects can end up scrapped. In the case of Protoxide: Death Race, it seemed for a long time like it was dead in the water. Now all of a sudden this title has appeared in the Play Store after about a year and a half of waiting. But if you're in the mood for heavily armed hovercraft, look no further.

This title invites you to race around the track, grabbing power ups and taking out the competition. There are multiple game modes, including campaigns and free-for-all multiplayer combat.

Yeah, high-resolution textures, 3D shaders, dynamic lighting, and all sorts of other stuff are standard in mobile games these days. Infinite is a little bit different, though. This title invites you to journey through a geometric galaxy and build solar systems with dead-simple controls.

Infinite is an arcade-style game with a little dash of physics and a smidgen of style. You have to pick up bits of matter floating around the various stars in your galaxy to build up enough mass to drop a planet. All you have top do is tap and hold to move the matter collector farther out.

The Worms games are fabulous turn-based combat experiences that consumed many hours of my formative years. The original Worms was ported to Android a few years ago, but it was riddled with bugs and has since been abandoned by publisher EA. Here's hoping that Worms 2: Armageddon is delivered in better shape when it hits the Play Store this spring.

For the uninitiated, in Worms games you control a team of anthropomorphic worms with the singular goal of eliminating the other team. To accomplish this feat you have at your disposal a wacky arsenal of bombs, guns, airstrikes, and exploding sheep (really).

Gamers in the mid-90s might remember spending hour upon terrifying hour playing Hexen: Beyond Heretic. The technology might have changed, but now you can get reacquainted with the realm of Cronos in this port from the same developer that brought us the Doom and Heretic ports. However, this game only comes with demo files – you have to provide the genuine article.

Hexen GLS is still the game you remember, but it's been cleaned up a little around the edges. It supports high-resolution screens, dynamic lighting, enhanced particle effects, and controller/Xperia Play input. The dev also plans to keep adding improved graphical effects in future releases.

Role playing games have been dressed up for the modern era, but the RPGs of the past still have a unique appeal. In the new game QuestLord, you get to take a retro-inspired 8-bit journey into a massive world filled with magic, secrets, and a ton of turn-based combat.

The basic premise is much the same as other RPGs: complete quests, find loot, level up. There are 18 complete quests in QuestLord right now spread over 160 different maps. You even get over 100 NPCs to interact with as you explore the world. That isn't bad for a mobile game of this sort.

There have been plenty of 2D side-scrolling action platformer games on Android, but Vector tweaks that formula in a really engaging way. You have to escape from the insidious clutches of "Big Brother" using your freerunner skills. Vector is essentially an amalgamation of Canabalt and Mirror's Edge. If that doesn't get you interested, you must not like games.

All the controls are handled through simple swipes to jump, slide, sprint, and dodge. You've got to time things right so you pick up coins and avoid obstacles. There is also a nasty thug right on your tail, and he's perfectly happy to take you out if you falter during your getaway.
