Exclusive titles like Half-Life 2 and Portal have served to make Nvidia's Shield devices more attractive to gamers, but that's usually about graphical optimization. The newly released OlliOlli is a bit different. This is a retro-themed skateboard stunt game that previously resided on Steam. Now it's on Android and exclusive to the Shield Portable. Yes, the Portable. Oh, and it's $12.99, just like the Steam version.
The term "chivalry" has somehow become conflated with being gentlemanly over the years, but chivalry was mostly about who to stab with your sword and how to go about it. There's certainly a lot of that in Broadsword: Age of Chivalry. This game has just arrived on Android with Tegra-optimized graphics, but other Android devices can play with somewhat simplified graphics.
There were many real world ramifications from World War II, but one of the more relevant to our coverage on Android Police is that it gave developers material for no fewer than a zillion games. HandyGames saw success with its last WWII title, 1941 Frozen Front, and now the sequel known as 1942 Pacific Front is available for download. It's essentially the same thing but with less snow.
There's a new Transformers game available in the Play Store, and it falls into the increasingly popular online battle arena genre. In TRANSFORMERS: Battle Tactics, you must build a team of Autobots and Decepticons to best your enemies on the battlefield. However, it's free-to-play, so is this one more than meets the eye? Nah, it's pretty much what it looks like.
Evoland is not a typical adventure RPG. It is actually all typical RPGs rolled up into a single package. This game takes you through the history of the action RPG genre, starting with 2D monochrome gameplay and eventually ending up with full-3D open world graphics.
The name "Naughty Kitties" is not particularly descriptive. Is it some sort of game or a seedy strip club? It's a game this time, and actually a rather fun one. It bills itself as a combination of endless runner and tower defense, but it's more strategic than you might think.
The second mobile title based on The Witcher series of games has arrived on Android, and it's a bit more action-packed than the board game from a few months ago. The Witcher Battle Arena is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game based on The Witcher universe. It's free-to-play, but the developers say it's not "pay-to-win."
Gameplay And Controls
The Witcher Battle Arena is played in a top-down isometric view in a number of small arenas populated with control beacons.
Flight combat games have a long and storied history in gaming, but most of these titles on mobile have vastly simplified control schemes. Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders doesn't sell itself short, though. This is a true simulator-style flight combat game with multiple control schemes and tons of planes.
Do you like side-scrolling? Do you like running? Do you hate the Amazon Appstore? If you answered yes to the preceding questions, get ready to get happy. Halfbrick Studios has released Monster Dash in the Play Store after first debuting it on the Appstore last week. It's got running, shooting, and tons of monsters.
Kids these days don't know how hard we had it way back when. You didn't use to get unlimited continues in games. If you died, you had to start over at the beginning of the game. Also, we walked 30 miles to school, uphill, both ways. The recent explosion of Roguelike games takes us back to those days of brutal boss battles and permadeath, and bit Dungeon II is a fine example of the genre.
