If you've been online today, you've most probably noticed the avalanche of Prime Day deals. Although these include a lot of tech products, there are no Nest products in there. Thankfully, these products are also marked down and available from a bunch of online and physical retailers.

How to troubleshoot and fix Nest Thermostat and Camera issues

Just use Google's new automated tools

Smart home gadgets are incredibly useful, but they can also be a nightmare to fix when and if things don't work as expected. While I'm sure Google would prefer if all its Nest hardware simply worked right all the time, that's not something you can always depend on. To help with the troubleshooting process, Google is rolling out a pair of new tools for its Nest Thermostat and Nest Cameras that promise to help make the usually frustrating process a little bit easier.

If you weren't around for that last wallop of discounts back in April, you'll be glad to know that Google has put a whole bunch of Nest products on sale. If you need a video doorbell, smart lock, or security camera, you've got through July 8 to save on them. These Nest products should be on sale at third-party retailers for nearly or exactly the same price as found on the Google Store. Comparisons to MSRP are a bit disingenuous, but even with the occasional spot sale here and there, these savings are, in fact, real. Without further ado, we'll be listing a selection of what we think are the choicest deals and where you can take advantage of them.

Google's $279 Pixel 3a sale expires tomorrow (May 28)

And a whole bunch of Nest deals are reaching their ends, too

The Google Store started a sale last week on the Pixel 3a and a whole bunch of Nest stuff. The 3a phones have grown into old age for their product cycle, so if you do want to get a new one while supplies last, you only have through tomorrow to do so.

Now is the perfect time to work on those little home improvement projects you've been putting off. Whether you've been mulling over creating an entire smart-home from scratch or just looking to replace an aging device or two, there are few more dependable names in the game than Nest. Right now, you can save up to $250 during the biggest Nest sale we've seen since Black Friday.

When I set up my smart home infrastructure, I waited until Black Friday discounts to pay a little less for all my intelligent devices. Whether you're starting from scratch or want to add new products to your existing smart home configuration, you'll be able to benefit from exciting markdowns on a wide array of Nest products. These include security cameras, alarms, locks, thermostats, smart speakers, connected displays, and Wi-Fi routers. The markdowns will be available from November 28 until December 4, which will give you plenty of time to shop.

With Black Friday less than two weeks away, retailers have already started discounting some items and teasing their full-blown deal extravaganza. Google is joining them today with its own early look: The entire Google Store front page has been themed with black and a list of upcoming sales is displayed below it.

One of the constants in consumer societies is deals. As long as companies exist and make products, they'll try to discount them to move some inventory and gain market share. That's even more true when it comes to the smart home, where products are often considered novelties but can also provide a strong tie-in to an ecosystem. Like Amazon, Google wants you to grab its own smart speakers and connected devices, so it keeps discounting them to lure more of us in. I have enough smart devices in my home, but if you're still looking to beef up your own setup, there are some Google deals to take advantage of now.The discounts started today and will last until July 17 2019 at 11:59 PST, so you have a couple of weeks to make up your mind. But overall, these are some of the best discounts we've seen on these Home and Nest products, or at least they're close enough. They're also better than the most recent Father's Day deals. Most notably, you'll find a half-price Google Home Mini, $160 off a two-pack of Nest Cam Outdoors (it's even better than the four- or six-pack deal), and a Nest Learning Thermostat with free Google Home Mini for $189 (a total of $109 off). Here are the noteworthy deals:

If your pop's idea of Father's Day involves home improvement, this ongoing promotion for Google Nest hardware might be of interest. Right now Google has a ton of its smart home hardware on sale for the upcoming holiday, notably including a rare discount on the Google Nest Cam IQ Outdoor, which can be had for $50 off (0) for one, and $80 off (8) if you get the two-pack.

More and more people are buying smart security cameras these days, and if you haven't yet joined the wave, now might be the right time to. For today only, Home Depot is offering discounts of over 20% on three unique Nest Cam bundles at different price points. There are some good deals to be had here.

Nest makes some of the best security cameras on the market, and if you've been looking to add a little security to your home, now is a great time to do so. The Nest Cam Outdoor two-pack has fallen to just 8.38, nearly $100 off its MSRP. This is essentially the lowest price we've seen for this camera. The Nest Cam Outdoor sports a 130-degree 1080p sensor with 4x optical zoom with a fully weatherproofed casing (obviously). Features include broadcasting and listening functionality, Night Vision, and phone alerts. Do note that a monthly subscription is required to use all the features.Back in November, Amazon did offer singles of the Nest Cam Outdoor for $125 a pop, though that's still technically more expensive than today's 8.38 for two deal. We actually added this deal to our to-do list when it was around $270 earlier today, and it fell even further in just a few hours, making this a seriously good buy. We're not sure how long this will last, so jump on it while you can.Source: Amazon

Most of Nest's smart home devices went on sale for Black Friday, but today Amazon is making several Nest products even cheaper. The Nest Cam is down to a mere $117.99, the Cam Outdoor drops to $124.99, and the 3rd gen Thermostat is $169.Last week, this camera was selling for $139 and the Cam Outdoor for $149 at most retailers. The Nest indoor cam was already $60 off the retail price, but now it's $117.99. That's about $81 off retail. The Cam Outdoor is selling for $124.99, which is $74 off. Nest's cameras are excellent, but they're expensive compared to a lot of the competition and the subscription plans are less generous. Additionally, Nest's free service doesn't include any online video storage. It's easier to justify the Nest cameras at these prices, even with the expensive subscription plan. The 3rd gen Nest Thermostat doesn't need a monthly plan, and it's getting a similarly generous discount. The non-sale price is $250, but it's just $169.15 right now (stainless steel only). That's roughly $80 off. This price was available at Costco last week (membership required), but you can get it on Amazon now as well. All three devices work with Google Assistant and Alexa, and they work together in the Nest app. They're all in-stock with free Prime shipping.

When Google recently decided to sell only company-made hardware in the Google Store, Nest products were kept in stock. That's not exactly a surprise, given that it's a subsidiary of Alphabet, just like Google. Now the lineup of Nest security cameras, thermostats, and other smart home security accessories sold in the Google Store is expanding.

The more that I hear about outdoor IP security cameras, the more I want one. Among the available options is the Nest Cam Outdoor, which is on sale over on Amazon for $157.50; that's $41.50 that you save. Keep in mind that this deal is for a single unit.Nest's outdoor security camera features 24/7 live video with a 130° view, alerts, weatherproofing, two-way communication, and Alexa support. $157.50 is, by far, the lowest price we've seen from Amazon; it's even Prime-eligible. Sales tax will still be collected, however, so bear that in mind.B&H also has the Nest Cam Outdoor on sale, but for $162. Sales tax is only collected in New Jersey and New York, so you might end up saving more going this route. I'll include it in the source links below so that you can make the informed decision that best suits your needs.

Last month, Nest announced that it would be starting to sell its products in Austria, Germany, Italy, and Spain. But at the time, the retail outlets where these products could be bought ranged from Amazon to Media Markt, ePrice, El Corte Ingles, and a couple more. They were all third-party retailers and not official Nest or Google entities.

Saving and sharing video clips should be one of the rudimentary features of any connected camera system, so I'm surprised Nest didn't have that option until now. But now it does and it works in two ways. You can create an "instaclip" of any recorded event in your Nest timeline, but you can also tap and hold on the icon to make a custom clip with your chosen start and end times. After the clip is generated, you'll have the choice of either saving it locally to your device or sharing it with your contacts. That's one of the two major features added with the latest Nest app update. The second is Android TV support to allow you to view your Nest Cam feeds from the TV without having to pull up your phone. There are a few other small changes and additions that you can read about in the changelog below.

While there might be lots of changes afoot in Nest behind closed doors, the company is continuing to push its products and release improvements to make them more desirable and try to be profitable for its parent Alphabet. Today brings a lot of news from Nest, both in terms of new products and new features.First, Nest Thermostat is getting 3 new color variations with new materials. There's a white one, which Nest isn't too eager to describe. Then a black color with carbon coating containing pure silicon, carbon, and titanium, which makes it resistant to scratches and oily fingers. And finally a copper one forged with steel for durability and style. You can grab these color variants from the Nest Store.

The Nest Cam keeps an eye on what's going on in your home. That can be creepy when you're home, but it can bring peace of mind when you're away. On the downside, the Nest Cam isn't weatherproof. That means you can't stick one outdoors.
