Google's November update lowers Pixel 2 XL maximum brightness, adds fading navigation buttons from 8.1 DP1 to both Pixel 2s

The numerous worries about the Pixel 2 XL's display were addressed by Google in late October, and the company is taking action now. The November update not only adds the promised saturated color mode to the Pixel 2 and 2 XL, but also a number of other minor tweaks, including a slightly lower maximum brightness for the Pixel 2 XL and fading soft keys for both the Pixel 2 and 2 XL.

LG V20 promotional video shows filled-in white nav bar buttons on Nougat

A few weeks ago, we reported that Android's navbar may be getting solid keys rather than the hollow versions found on Marshmallow and below. Nougat is here now and there are no white buttons, but we're still waiting for the new Nexus phones, plus a maintenance release slated to be Android 7.1. LG, though, seems to think the solid look is the way forward.

The video in the tweet above features some of Nougat's new features, such as quick reply, quick switching, and splitscreen multitasking.

Exclusive: Google may be redesigning Android's home and navigation buttons (again)

What you're looking at above could well be the appearance of the navigation bar in Android N on Google's next Nexus phones, Marlin and Sailfish, when they launch - and possibly all devices using the stock navbar in Android N. According to a reliable source, Google's newest Nexuses may be getting a navbar do-over, but it remains unclear at this time if the new design we're seeing here will be available to all devices running N or only Google's in-house Nexus brand.
