Themer wowed us with its introduction a few months back, and today's update to the powerful homescreen replacement and customization app is the largest yet. The biggest change is a redesigned app drawer, which allows for both the standard scrolling view and a new Categories screen. Categories are basically folders, but they're displayed like Google Now cards, and automatically populated with apps. You can manually tweak them if you want.

Themer Beta, a launcher replacement initiative by the team at MyColorScreen.com, has received a lot of attention in the last few weeks. And I mean a lot, as it currently has a waitlist of 280,000+ people strong. That's right, two hundred and eighty thousand.

The invites have so far been released in relatively small batches of a few thousand at a time, leaving the majority of those on the list waiting impatiently and scrambling to find a code or two to satisfy that Themer craving.

If you were drooling over a few of the themes in our first look at Themer the other day, some of you now have the opportunity to play around with them on your own phones. The official beta has hit the Play Store, but only approved testers will be given codes to activate the app. Sad, but you can still get on the list for access.

Themer is a one-click method for setting up a home screen theme on your Android device.

One of the best things about Android is the degree to which the system can be customized. That extreme level of customization has allowed the community to create some pretty stunning themes that can be applied to almost any device. It's easy – all you need is a new home screen, some backgrounds, some icon packs, a few additional widgets, maybe some skin files, some other odds and ends, and lots of patience.

The MyColorScreen team has been hard at work creating a one-click theming app for Android known creatively as "Themer." That brief introduction pretty much sums up everything you need to know about this app. It changes the look and feel of your home screen with just one click. And no, I don't mean it just changes around a few icons. Each theme looks fundamentally different from the one that came before it.

Readers of a certain age will remember the way LCD screens looked back in the early 90s. We'd never heard of color LCDs – that would have been witchcraft plain and simple. LCDs were dingy little grayscale things that you saw on clocks and mediocre handheld games. Still, there's nothing like some nostalgia in this age of pocket-sized supercomputers, right? MyColorScreen user z3u5 posted a classic LCD theme for custom Android launchers recently, and it's a seriously cool effect.

MyColorScreen is a site where Android enthusiasts can show off the sometimes stunning UIs they design with various apps and mods. Most of what you come across on the site is fairly predictable; a different widget here and a custom wallpaper there. Although, on occasion someone creates something truly wonderful, and the new PIE UI from AdamF is definitely one of those.

The PIE UI theme is a unique UI that takes advantage of a number of apps like WidgetLocker, Nova Launcher, and Power Widget.

I've always been a huge fan of software customization and theming; back in the early days of Windows XP, I would change themes, wallpapers, and icons almost daily, focusing on every detail to get that perfect look. Over time, I've become a huge fan of the minimal style on all of my devices, and there's no better place to get inspiration to re-theme a tired layout than by looking at other screenshots.
