Amazon Music Unlimited family plan is available in the U.S.

There are multiple layers to Amazon's Prime subscription model, from full access to video to just Kindle. All of these pricing tiers offer a lot of choice on how you get your media from Amazon's ecosystem, which is pretty great. Music Unlimited was added to this list a month ago, offering what Prime Music did already, but with a whole lot more content. An additional family plan was announced for those interested, allowing up to six people to access the vast selection of music. Well, now that new plan is available in the US.

[Update: Now in the UK] Amazon introduces Music Unlimited at $9.99/month with lower prices for Prime subscribers or Echo owners

Confused about all the paid Amazon subscriptions? Well, join the club. The way I understand it, there's Amazon Prime that gives you plenty of perks and its little brother, Prime Video, that only lets you access movies and TV series. But you can also get more reading and audiobook material through Kindle Unlimited and now you'll be able to add Music Unlimited to the list.

Whereas Amazon Prime members already had access to Prime Music with a selection of more than 2 million songs, Music Unlimited opens up the catalogue to tens of millions of songs and curated playlists.

Now that continuous waves of attacks against Sony's servers have slowed down a bit (it's been over a week since the last hack), the company found some strength to regroup and released an Android client for its popular cloud music service Music Unlimited, powered by Qriocity.

$3.99/month for basic and $9.99/month for premium (30-day free trial available) buy you streaming of various catalogs of music from the web (à la Pandora) as well as syncing of your own library to Sony's cloud servers with subsequent playback from said cloud (à la Amazon Cloud Drive and Google Music).
