Plex Sync has been out for over a year now, allowing users to sync multimedia from a computer to their Android devices. Yet there are two primary weaknesses inherent with this setup. One, it requires that users have a host computer running at all times, and two, target mobile devices must have enough room to hold the desired files. Now Plex is looking to alleviate this issue with the introduction of Cloud Sync, a service that will let you sync files with Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, and other cloud storage providers.

Today, however, a more official app is being distributed by the team with a hefty 'beta' tag attached.

At the time, Apple already had a year-long head start on tablets. Not only would Android need a lot of third-party app support, but first-party apps would be essential to the platform's success.

This is part three in a series of editorials addressing our editors’ biggest gripes with Android. Part one, which focuses on fragmentation, can be found here; part two, which is centered around cohesiveness and uniformity, is located here.

Let's be honest here: Android's current multimedia situation is a mess. For one thing, the included music/video players are seriously lackluster; for another, there's no officially sanctioned way to buy songs or movies from an Android device.
