Motorola releases camera tuning app for the upcoming Moto X4

It's common for device makers to tweak the performance of a phone's camera after release, but it usually requires a full software update. However, last year Motorola used an app in the Play Store to make changes to the Moto G4's camera. It looks like the company is taking a similar approach to managing the camera on its upcoming Moto X4. A tuning app for that phone is live right now ahead of the phone's official launch.

Moto G5S Plus now up for pre-order in the US for $229.99

Motorola went ahead and befuddled everyone last month when it announced a small upgrade to its G5/G5 Plus with the newer G5S and G5S Plus, then revealed there were two versions: one for the US without NFC and one for Europe with NFC, and then clarified that only the Plus would come to the US. Now that day has come and the G5S Plus is up for pre-order in the US on several sites.

The price is reduced for a limited period of time (except on Frys): the 3GB/32GB version can be had for $229.99 instead of $279.99 and the 4GB/64GB version is down from $349.99 to $299.99.

Motorola honors Android 8.0 Oreo update promise for Moto G4 Plus

Motorola isn't updating the Moto G4 line to Android Oreo as it said it would, and that's bullshit

You know who everyone hates? Liars. Nobody likes being promised something, only to have it taken away without explanation. At launch, Motorola advertised Android N and O updates for the Moto G4 line, but to the shock of many G4 owners, none of these phones were listed in the company's official Oreo update list. In fact, all mention of this promise has been wiped away. Motorola, this is bullshit.

[Update: Moto X4 too] Motorola reveals the Moto Z and Moto G devices that will get Android Oreo, G4 series excluded

Back in the days when the Moto X could be used with one hand and Moto Maker was a cool new thing, Motorola was one of the best manufacturers with software updates. Since their skin is so minimal, anything else would be disappointing. But Motorola is not what it once was, and it's fallen behind in terms of software support. The Lenovo-owned company has just released its update roadmap for Android 8.0 Oreo.

Android One edition of Moto X4 leaks, could be the US's first Android One phone

After a lot of leaking, the Moto X4 made its formal debut at IFA. But it looks like even a released phone can still be leaked if it has two small words printed on the back of it: Android One. That's right - the latest leak from pro leakster @evleaks depicts a Moto X4 with a small Android One tramp stamp on its back. Could this be the first Android One phone for the US?
