For some time, Motorola Mobility has offered its MOTODEV Studio for Android suite as a standalone alternative build on Eclipse. A lot of developers seemed to like the additional tools Moto built into Studio, but weren't exactly keen on dropping Eclipse in exchange for Moto's less open solution.

Now that Motorola is a part of Google, it seems that state of affairs just won't do. Earlier today, on the official Motorola blog, the company announced it was open sourcing key parts of MOTODEV Studio and merging them into the Android Open Source Project.

The Droid Bionic. You've heard the name for about three-quarters of the year now, and the hype surrounding the world's first dual-core Droid has seen its fair share of ups and downs. Last week we found out that the device would finally be hitting the streets in September -- too little too late, if you ask me. I'm not entirely sure what market Motorola plans on competing with at that point, as the beastly Galaxy S II should be available on Big Red by then, along with the new iPhone.

So rather than spend hours trying to weed out the interesting bits in your browser (unless, of course, you're reading Android Police which is a delight - RSS/Twitter), you can instead fire up your favorite podcast app (BeyondPod on Android is mine) and subscribe to some Android podcasts.
