Since Dan Rosenberg declared his intentions to stop publishing exploits for Motorola devices, fans of the OEM have been wondering if there will be much of a future within the modding community. While the distant future is still very foggy, Justin Case has come to the rescue with his own rooting method for Motorola's latest salvo of devices. His simple-to-use app roots the Moto X, Ultra, Mini, and Maxx.

I'm sure most of you are here to get your phone rooted, so let's go straight to the instructions.

HTC paid a pretty penny to sign Robert Downey Jr. for their new ad campaign aimed at completely redefining their brand, but we're still left scratching our heads as to whether it's going to pay off. Their first lengthy commercial was certainly quirky, but it didn't tell us anything about what HTC phones can do, and I'm not quite sure if they remembered to bring the funny. On the other hand, Motorola's new "Lazy Phone" campaign for the Moto X is absolutely comical, and it does everything a series of phone commercials should.

Motorola used very carefully chosen words in the original Moto X PR statement when the phone was announced. We were told the device would be in AT&T, US Cellular, Verizon, and Sprint stores. It looks like that's happening as planned. The PR also said the device would be available for all carriers, including T-Mobile, direct from Motorola. Now the device has appeared on Motorola.com for $599.99.

The listing says the T-Mobile Moto X is available "exclusively on Motorola.com," so that would seem to confirm T-Mobile won't be carrying the device at all.

As promised, Motorola is making at least some of the bootloaders on its new flagship Moto X unlockable, opening the door for relatively easy root privileges, custom recoveries, and aftermarket ROMs. The Sprint, US Cellular, and forthcoming Latin American models of the Moto X can now be unlocked using Motorola's My Moto Care portal. Customers will need to create an account and have their device ID ready.

Naturally, unlocking your device's bootloader will void your warranty, even if you never do anything else with it.

We've talked quite a bit about mobile security in the past, and the name Bitdefender Mobile Security for Android always seems to make its way into the conversation. There's a good reason for that – since its initial release, Bitdefender Mobile Security has always been one of the top choices on Google Play when it comes to device protection. But the company hasn't been stagnant since the first release, it has pushed a steady stream of updates to the Play Store, brining new features to the table on a regular basis.

After debuting on AT&T, then making its way to Verizon, the Moto X has reached the Now Network. Sprint's Moto X is on sale, and you can get a solid deal if you're coming over from a rival carrier. After the contract subsidy and a $100 port-in credit, you only have to pay $99 for the device. Not your situation? Sorry, that'll be $199.

Sprintsters (and potential Sprintsters of the future), listen up: Motorola's new flagship is hitting The Now Network tomorrow. That doesn't give you a whole lot of time to get ready to pick up the new handset, so you better start digging through the couch cushions now.

The always-listening, Active Display-packing powerhouse will be available in both woven black and woven white for $199 with a two-year agreement. If you're the customizin' type, however, you'll be waiting a while – Sprint says Moto Maker support won't be support for at least a few months.

If you live in the US and want to get your hands on the Moto X for less than $199, be patient. The price isn't dropping just yet, and carriers are rolling out promos as they pick up the handset. The Moto X is now available on US Cellular, and they're offering one of the more sizable discounts yet. The phone will still cost $199 with a two-year contract, but if you're creating a new commitment, US Cellular will mail you a $75 MasterCard Debit Card as a "Switcher Bonus." This deal won't work for current customers who are upgrading, but it is still offered to those who are interested in adding a new line.

If you've been anxiously waiting for the chance to order up a Verizon Moto X, now is the time! The Moto X order page just went live on Verizon's website. If you want one as soon as possible, you'll have to buy online – Verizon won't have the device in stores for a few weeks.

The Verizon Moto X is only available in black and white at this time. Also, there is only a 16GB storage option.

As Motorola's first phone developed start to finish under Google's corporate umbrella, the Moto X is getting more than a little attention from developers, modders, and ROM enthusiasts. They'll be happy to know that the kernel source code for various models of the Moto X are now available on SourceForge. Kernel code is available for three models: AT&T (XT1058), T-Mobile (XT1053), and Sprint (XT1056).

The choice of models is a bit surprising, since there's still no word of when Sprint will start selling its version of the Moto X, though they've had a sign-up page for weeks.
