Back in January, we learned that if you want to be a developer and avoid leaving money on the table, you need to be on both Android and iOS. One or the other isn't going to cut it. However, according to AppAnnie, if you have to choose just one platform, Android is still struggling to prove it's the one you should go with.

According to the report, Play Store downloads are nearing App Store levels, reaching close to 90% as much as the iOS store.

We've featured more than a few ways to save money on this site that have been found via Slickdeals. Today it gets even easier to spot those gems with a shiny new Slickdeals app. It includes both the highlights on the front page as well as access to the forums where eagle-eyed shoppers can share their finds.

The app looks nice, with adherence to standard Android UI (for the Holo faithful among you) and even includes a handy side panel navigation area.

It's no secret around these parts that we find HTC's advertising to be a little lackluster. Which is a shame because its hardware is not. For what it's worth, the company's CEO agrees and plans to ditch the "quietly brilliant" slogan for the One and instead shoot for the themes of "bold," "authentic," and "playful." Which, by a strange coincidence, also happen to be Peter Chou's list of the top three traits he's looking for in a woman on his OK Cupid profile*.

Last year, Apple won what was perhaps the largest legal victory in its war on Android when a court ruled that Samsung infringed its patents on a significant number of devices and owed the Cupertino company in excess of a billion dollars. Today, however, that same judge is vacating $450m from that total until a second damages trial with a new jury can commence.

That amount won't be stripped away entirely, mind you.

There's little doubt that Pokémon is the very best at separating parents from money. Like no franchise ever was. Getting Nintendo to relinquish control of content, though, is a real test. It doesn't generally stream its show for free without good cause. Today, however, it's available across the land. The animated series can now be streamed to Android handsets far and wide.

Admittedly Pokémon licensing is something I don't understand, but it's pretty powerful that this app has free episodes inside.

The scene: a board room. Ominous and shrouded in mystery, all that can be seen is a long, black glass desk and on either side, twelve featureless chairs. In each sits a grumpy old person. The rest of the chamber is a dark, empty void. Out of the abyss a lone man appears, approaching the head of the table. He's adorned in blue jeans, a white dress shirt and a dark blazer.

If you make money on the Play Store, you should probably check your email. Google is sending out a notification to developers to let them know that in the future, payments will be sent out on a 15 day delay instead of the one or two days the company has been using for a while. What does this mean for you? Well, if selling apps is a primary source of income for you, then you'll want to do some planning.

Back in the Gingerbread days, I swore by GO Launcher. I tried all the others, yet it was my go-to on every device before the Galaxy Nexus. Sadly, as much as I wanted to continue using it past Android 2.3, GO became basically obsolete on ICS and beyond.

You can't keep a good team down, so the GO Launcher devs are back with an incredible looking new launcher called Next Launcher.

EA and Hasbro, adding another entry to Monopoly's long history, recently released another version of the classic board game – Monopoly Millionaire. If the name of the game isn't descriptive enough, it's a game of Monopoly where the first player to reach $1,000,000 wins.

To reach $1 million, players are encouraged to "trade properties on the sly, force powerful deals, and risk it all in a dash for a million in cash." We are, of course, talking Monopoly cash here, but the concept is still fairly compelling for a mobile board game.

Square, the service that makes "commerce easy for everyone," has just expanded its mobile payment/commerce service to Canada.

For those unaware, Square is an app/accessory that allows you to accept credit card payments anywhere from Android or iOS devices. The company provides a free card reader and app in exchange for a small percentage of each completed transaction, giving small and independent businesses an easy, inexpensive, and secure way to open up their products to those paying with plastic.
