evil apple

A few days ago, redditor fernandizzel posted a hypothetical poll: "If MS & Apple had their way and Android ceased to exist one year from today, what OS would you use?" The choices were fairly obvious: Blackberry, Windows Phone, iOS, or Other. A second question was also posed: "If Google supported one platform in particular by providing better apps such as gMail and Maps, would you prefer that OS?"

As promised, he posted the results the next day.

While we've had the ability to join a G+ Hangout from mobile for quite some time, the option to actually initiate one has been noticeable absent.

OnLive, a popular on-demand gaming service, has just made its way to the Android Market, delivering "console quality games" to your Android device any time, anywhere.

Eliminating the need for huge downloads and long wait times, OnLive gives users access to high quality mobile games from just about anywhere they may find themselves, using either touch controls or an OnLive wireless controller (available here).

All you need is an Android 2.3+ device and an internet/data connection. A full list of compatible devices is available at OnLive's Android Market listing, linked below. Adding more convenience to the service, OnLive offers free demos of nearly every game available, so you can get a handle on each game before committing to a (possibly) hefty price tag.

If you have a Kodak all-in-one printer and a Google Cloud Print account, you could be printing in style with the new KODAK Document Print App. This app aims to make printing documents and pictures from your device convenient and seamless.

1 2 3

This app will allow you to print a multitude of different document and picture types straight from your device, Google Docs, Dropbox, and Evernote. You'll also be able to use the app's built-in browser to view and print web pages. On top of all that, the service is rather easy to set up. You just need to have a registered Kodak AIO printer (duh) and be signed up for a Google Cloud Print Account, then you'll be ready to quickly print that term paper you put off on your way out the door.

Amazon Wireless, one of our favorite online mobile retailers, launched its Black Friday promotions a little early this year, and boy are they good!

Did I say good? I meant absolutely incredible (though, unfortunately, only for new customers): every single phone at Amazon Wireless sold by Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint is going for just 1 penny.

Yup, even such $299 monsters as the HTC Rezound 4G and the DROID RAZR, along with the Galaxy S II variants (including the Skyrocket) are all priced down to a cent above free.

97 phones in total are participating in this Penny Pincher promotion, which is scheduled to go through Cyber Monday (November 28th), giving you ample time to pick up the best cell phone deals of the year.

ODIN is a handy, yet powerful tool for Android-powered Samsung devices that allows users to flash firmware updates and kernels using a relatively simple interface.

Looking to channel the power of the ODIN tool into something a bit more, well, mobile, developer Chainfire has released Mobile ODIN, a tool that allows rooted users to flash firmware straight from the app's interface.

What's more, Mobile ODIN Pro comes with a tool called EverRoot, which will ensure that no matter what you're flashing, you'll maintain root privileges, even if you're attempting to update your device with a leaked version of official firmware.

The main factor that has kept me from buying a windshield mount for my Android phone or tablet is the fact that, for the most part, each device requires its own mount, adding a significant amount of clutter to my window.

Looking to change that, JR Sanchez has begun a project at kickstarter.com surrounding the MobileMount, a suction cup mount that will support just about any mobile device.

 image image 6214574262_a19af836bc

The mount consists of two twist-to-lock suction cups, meaning you can mount your phone, tablet, or MP3 player on just about any flat surface. Besides its insane versatility, the MobileMount is interesting because it is completely crowd-funded, thanks to Kickstarter, a website which funds independent projects solely by donation.

Ever since Chase launched its mobile deposit feature in the Android app, I've been using it to deposit checks pretty much exclusively. The only times I couldn't use it were when check amounts exceeded $1,000 or I went past the $3,000 calendar month limit.

Thankfully, according to the letter we just received from Chase, these limits are going up on October 2nd to $2,000/check and $5,000/month. Hopefully, this means that they've tweaked the check recognition algorithms and increased confidence in the program enough to continue increasing these limits in the future. Excellent.

You can find the full text of the letter below:
