Chase customers who use the bank's official Android app to stay on top of their banking on the go received an update recently, bringing the banking app up to version 2.7 and adding a few very handy enhancements.

Perhaps the most notable enhancement brought by the new update is the ability to scroll through up to 24 months of transactions related to Chase deposit accounts. The update also adds significant functionality for Chase Liquid customers (Liquid being the bank's reloadable ATM card service), including the ability to view account info, transfer money to your account, and use Chase QuickDeposit. Customers can also view in-app notices for things like upcoming service outages and app functionality.

Just about everyone who has played a PC game in the past dozen years has probably heard of (and possibly used) GameSpy. The service, formerly owned by IGN, has been a major player in the social/multiplayer gaming space, offering matchmaking, stats, profiles, leaderboards, and cloud syncing. And now, freemium game maker Glu Mobile has acquired the service for an unnamed price.

Glu hopes that the acquisition can beef up their multiplayer support:

“Our acquisition of GameSpy brings Glu industry-recognized leadership in online, cross-platform technology infrastructure,” said Niccolo de Masi, Chief Executive Officer of Glu. “GameSpy’s battle-tested team will enable Glu’s product roadmap to include robust and highly scalable multiplayer and social functionality."

The company is also quick to point out that one of their games launched in Q1 2012 has GameSpy support baked in, which allows for co-op and head-to-head multiplayer gameplay.

Republic Wireless, the wireless carrier that prefers WiFi for most of its connections, and utilizes Sprint 3G in the interim, has announced that it's ready to take on new customers. The company reported that "Wave A", which consists of an unspecified number of users, has been a resounding success and that they believe they've found a model on which a $19/month unlimited everything plan is sustainable.

Today marks an important milestone for republic wireless. We’ve unveiled our new phone, the Motorola DEFY XT, and are opening our doors to welcome new members from our waitlist, starting with Wave B.

Over a year ago, a small initial team set out with a big idea to change the way wireless works.

We've got a treat for you today, UK readers. If you've ever gotten tired of seeing products come out for the US with nary a release date for you in sight, today's the day you get one back: NOW TV, the UK-only streaming movie and TV service, is now available on Android. As long as you have a Sky Movies Pass, of course.

The service offers quite a few big name movies and plenty of television shows to watch. As with any online streaming service, it's not going to have everything, but for watching stuff on the go? Yeah, it will do the job.

Since you're reading Android Police, we know you've already got all your Android news covered. But hey, we know there are other gadgets out there! For that, the Verge is a pretty great source of information. For the (very few) uninitiated, the Verge is a gadget blog founded by former Editor-in-Chief of Engadget Joshua Topolsky. For broad gadget news of the industry at large, there are few publications that are better.

The app looks pretty great on a phone, though the tablet layout is non-existent. The app even locks to portrait mode, which isn't a big deal for all you new and future Nexus 7 owners, but for virtually every other Android tablet in existence, it's a little annoying.

After taking a closer look at our top five favorite apps from June, it only seemed right to follow up with another roundup of our top favorites in the game category. Unable to settle on just five games for this roundup, we decided to include six of June's best entries into the Play Store. Of course, there were a ton of worthy competitors for the top six spots, so choosing wasn't easy, but here are our favorites:

Project 83113

First up is Project 83113, a cute sidescrolling platformer from NCsoft. The game challenges players to "bring an end to the reign of the machine" by jumping, bouncing, and shooting through four unique worlds.

The Google Drive SDK has only been available since April, but there's already a new update on the horizon.

Version 2 of the SDK, which has just been announced by Google, now includes full mobile support for both Android and iOS apps, allowing mobile apps to read and write directly to Google Drive. Android Drive users will also be able to choose from a list of supported applications when opening a file from Drive, allowing them to edit files on the go using either a phone or tablet.

In addition to this, the new API has added a number of methods that were previously unavailable to developers, such as the ability to list and search files, convert between formats and share files with other users.

After multiple delays, it looks like Max Payne Mobile has finally come to Android, just in time for Rockstar's latest release date promise. Before we publish our full-on review tomorrow, it's worth taking a moment to get a quick look at the much-anticipated game's Android iteration.

The game, which bears the original's award-winning title, follows the story of, you guessed it – Max Payne. Max is a fugitive cop, running both from the police and the mob. The game bills itself as "relentless" and "story-driven," promising a myriad of plot-twists, plenty of Bullet Time, gunplay, and action. As in the original title, Max Payne Mobile features graphic novel-style cutscenes, and a gritty almost noir vibe sure to satisfy fans of the original.

Android users who are fans of Sid Meier's classic games Pirates! and Civilization now have something to look forward to – it appears hat GREE and 2K Games have teamed up to bring the beloved sim/strategy games to the mobile world.

The companies' statement indicated that the games would be available as "social titles on select global markets," evidently starting with Japan.

“Creating social mobile games based on the  Sid Meier’s Pirates! and  Sid Meier’s Civilization franchises are our way to connect with Japanese fans in a fun and innovative way,” said Fabien Siouffi, Vice President Online and Social at Take-Two Asia.
