If all this wide world of information is used for is to figure out who that one guy was in that movie you saw, it feels like a waste of a good future. Which is why it warms our hearts just a bit to see things like this: now, in both Google Search or Maps, if you search for information related to a a missing or abducted child, AMBER Alerts will now be included among your search results.

Owners of T-Mobile's Huawei-made myTouch can begin anxiously tapping "software update" now – the carrier is rolling out a minor update to software build C85B839SP03. Among other things, this update fixes the myTouch device's "missing megapixel" problem, allowing the camera to "realize [its] full 5.0 Mega Pixel resolution."

The update also allows users to opt out of Carrier IQ, and brings a "compose" button to the Email app, and adds call-related bug fixes.

Intrigue. Mysterious disappearances. Giant phones. These can all be used to describe the recent events surrounding T-Mobile's Galaxy Note. We're not entirely sure what's going on around Team Magenta's camp, but the Note is gone. Don't believe me? Go look. I'll wait.

Didn't find it, did you? Nope. But wait - the plot thickens. Wirefly also has the device listed as "not available," and Costco, which uses Wirefly on the backend, has the device on closeout.

Next in line for our Mobile Security App Shootout is SeekDroid, an app that has no problem standing out in the crowded security app arena thanks to its sleek interface, smooth functionality, and manageable price tag; not to mention the adorable James Bond - style Android on the splash screen.

At a Glance

From the moment I saw the icon for GTMedia’s SeekDroid app, I suspected I had a winner on my hands -- and I haven’t been let down so far.

Talk about adding insult to injury - in addition to the news of the upcoming Google Nexus S missing any kind of external memory slots (microSD, etc), we’ve just found out that this supposed Nexus One successor is also missing LED notifications. What other essential system function is it going to lose next – a phone speaker?

I am excited about Gingerbread, especially everything it is bringing under-the-hood, but the whole Nexus S situation is turning out to be a disaster.

As we've all been following the Nexus S over the last few months, inhaling every bit of news regarding its specs, nobody could have foreseen or even considered the fact that the next Nexus, announced earlier today by Google, will be lacking the microSD card slot. The absence of HSPA+, a dual-core processor, HDMI, an 8MP camera, or Bluetooth 3.0 - sure, these are unfortunate, but understandable.

However, not being able to change out one SD card for another, faster one, is beyond mind boggling.
