[New App] 'Press' Is A Beautiful, Simple, And Functional RSS Reader That Syncs With Google Reader

At this point, everyone probably knows that gReader is my RSS client of choice on Android. Of course, everyone should also know that I love pretty apps. I'm actually a sucker for a clean, minimalistic layout, and will often choose what looks better over what's actually functional. Maybe I'm just vain.

Whatever the reason, though, when I laid eyes on Press, it was an insta-buy for me – it's just so pretty I couldn't resist. Turns out it's quite functional, too. Win/win. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Basically, Press is a very nice looking RSS reader for Android.

As a tech writer, I have lots of gadgets. Smartphones, tablets, and all sorts of other fun stuff. Because of this, new accessories aren't something that I'm often super-impressed with. Every once in a while, though, a new product lands in my hands that really is more than I expected. Thus is the case with the FIXIE tablet stand from Incipio ($40).

I know what you're thinking: "wait, you were impressed with... a tablet stand? Really?" In short, yes. I'll be honest with you - when I got the FIXIE stand, I was really expecting just another tablet stand. Most stands work well - after all, they really only need to hold the device to perform the function for which they were created.

Auralux Poised To Hit The Tegra Zone In April, Bringing Together Osmos-Like Minimalism And Galcon-Inspired Real-Time Strategy

The Tegra Zone is set to get one more amazing game next month, with the minimalist strategy game Auralux coming down the pipe. Auralux, which promises to have "every feature and more from the renowned PC game," combines the minimalist, otherworldly environment/music of Osmos with the real-time galactic strategy of Galcon for what looks to be a stunning experience.

Describing itself as "an abstract, essentialized, and simplified real-time strategy game," Auralux gives players individual units, each of which can only carry out one type of command. The player and his/her opponent start each game with equal resources, and are challenged to duke it out in a strategy-intensive environment where "quick reflexes will get you nowhere."

Auralux can be played in Normal or Speed mode, with an additional unlockable gameplay mode "for hardcore players." The only catch, though, is that Auralux is planned to be a "free to try" game, with "additional" levels available via additional purchases.

Digitally Imported (DI.FM) Radio App Lands In The Android Market

DI.FM fans, in an announcement on Facebook, your favorite radio station just dropped its Android app (previously available as only an off-Market beta) in the Android Market. Being one of such fans - Digitally Imported Premium is one of the few services I pay for monthly - I can tell you that the app is superb - it's clean, well designed, functional, and not over-bloated with features nobody needs.

Besides the obvious music streaming from all of DI's 37 channels, the app offers an ability to set favorite stations, stream using different bitrates when on Wi-Fi or cellular networks, and an ability to log into Premium to experience higher quality music without commercials.

Meet Clockr: Replace Your Clock With Pure Text

Yesterday, developer and XDA member zehro released his minimalist clock app, clockr. The app is actually a widget - and it really is as simple as it sounds: it's a pure-text clock.

At the moment, there are no customization options for the widget - that's coming at some point - but it looks like user hollywooder has been hard at work creating alternate themes for the clock. The upside is that there's a degree of variability in usage; the obvious downside is that you need to download and flash an .APK to change the colors.
