I'm not much of a live wallpaper guy these days, but Maxelus is one of the more popular LWP developers out there, and their newest creation Flatland really does it for me. Flatland has three nature themes: savannah, forest, and flamingos, with 15 preset color palettes that can be applied to each theme. You can also completely customize the colors to match things like your icon set, which is nice.
Even if you're not particularly in love with live wallpapers, you owe it to yourself to check out the newest offering from Maxelus. This developer has a reputation for creating beautiful live wallpapers that don't destroy performance. And the just-released Space Colony might take things to an entirely different level.
Space Colony turns your home screen into an alien cityscape with towering buildings, epic star-filled skies, and glowing starships flying past. There are five different city locations, and all the colors are configurable. Accelerometer control can be used to move the view around, but swiping does the same thing if you want to save a little battery.
Maxelus, a "Top Developer" in the Android Market, is well known for creating stunning (if not slightly trippy) live wallpapers - particularly the "Galaxy" series of LWPs that bring gorgeous, fictional outer space scenes to your Android phone or tablet.
Ostensibly looking to up the ante a bit, Maxelus recently introduced Alien Skins, a live wallpaper that offers over 1900 theme combinations, allowing one to mix and match skins and color schemes to their heart's content.
Unlike the "Galaxy" quartet, Alien Skins' full version comes at a price, ringing in at $1.99. Still, the sheer volume of options available to users may justify this price.
