Today's a good day for mobile gamers to open up their wallets. Max Payne, which David rated as having the highest possible nostalgia-to-dollars ratio, is 67% off today in the Play Store, clocking in at $0.99. Not bad. Looking for a better deal? How about Crystal Defenders? Developed by Square Enix (you know, the Final Fantasy guys), the game is normally $7.25, but for right now it's only $1.26, for a massive 83% off. Given the quality of Square Enix games, this is a fantastic deal.

Of course, Google is probably behind this, as each of these games include a reference to an 'End of Summer Sale' in their descriptions at this time.

After taking a closer look at our top five favorite apps from June, it only seemed right to follow up with another roundup of our top favorites in the game category. Unable to settle on just five games for this roundup, we decided to include six of June's best entries into the Play Store. Of course, there were a ton of worthy competitors for the top six spots, so choosing wasn't easy, but here are our favorites:

Project 83113

First up is Project 83113, a cute sidescrolling platformer from NCsoft. The game challenges players to "bring an end to the reign of the machine" by jumping, bouncing, and shooting through four unique worlds.

Max Payne for Android has finally arrived, marking the second classic Rockstar title to hit Android (GTA3 having been the first) officially. Let's cut to the chase: for $3, there's really no reason not to buy this game if you own a compatible tablet. Well, maybe if you just hate shooting things.

There are also quite a few compatible phones, though unless you're using an Xperia Play or Galaxy Note, I can't say I'd recommend spending the money. This was a game designed for 17" monitors and full-size televisions back in 2001, and while it scales well to 10.1", anything smaller than 5" is probably going to be frustrating to work with (that's what she said).

After multiple delays, it looks like Max Payne Mobile has finally come to Android, just in time for Rockstar's latest release date promise. Before we publish our full-on review tomorrow, it's worth taking a moment to get a quick look at the much-anticipated game's Android iteration.

The game, which bears the original's award-winning title, follows the story of, you guessed it – Max Payne. Max is a fugitive cop, running both from the police and the mob. The game bills itself as "relentless" and "story-driven," promising a myriad of plot-twists, plenty of Bullet Time, gunplay, and action. As in the original title, Max Payne Mobile features graphic novel-style cutscenes, and a gritty almost noir vibe sure to satisfy fans of the original.

Let's travel back in time together. Free your mind, and journey back with me, if you will. It's the sixth of April, two-thousand and twelve. One of the most anticipated games in recent months has just been announced: Max Payne Mobile. The crowd roars.

The game was expected to hit the Play Store on April 26th. We all waited with baited breath, but it never happened. So far as Android is concerned, everything goes dark.

Fast-forward to the present day - new information is now available regarding this illusive throwback. Rockstar posted on its blog that we should expect to see this title hit the Play Store in three days' time, on June 14th.

Four months ago, Rockstar games brought one of the most iconic video game titles of all time to Android devices: Grand Theft Auto III. With that, came car theft, trashy hookers, shady criminals, and enough violence to satisfy even the most brutal among us. Fast-forward to today, and Rockstar has announced the release date for yet another iconic title: Max Payne.
