Dead Trigger has been the cause of much controversy lately. Not because of violence or zombie action though; because it was initially a paid app ($0.99) and was made free three weeks after its release. This, of course, enraged many of the users who paid for the game, as they felt cheated.
Despite its attempts to help users understand the reasoning behind the decision to make the game free, Madfinger has been under constant attack from players who wanted to something to compensate the [measly] dollar that they spent on the game in its initial weeks on the market.
Madfinger Games has taken to its Facebook page to make an official statement regarding the decision last Friday to remove the $0.99 price tag from Dead Trigger. The decision, which has angered many users who had only recently paid for the game, can be summed up in one word: piracy.
Regarding price drop. HERE is our statement. The main reason: piracy rate on Android devices, that was unbelievably high. At first we intend to make this game available for as many people as possible - that's why it was for as little as buck.
If there's one thing that sets people off upon purchasing or downloading an app (games in particular), it's opening it up and finding it has in-app purchases.
And this is, generally, a good instinct for consumers to have - hundreds, if not thousands of mobile games blatantly take advantage of people's willingness to nickel-and-dime themselves out of money they would have never otherwise spent buying a game in the first place.
Once in a while, an Angry Birds or Temple Run comes along in the mobile gaming sphere. Games that are able to hook you with their simple but endlessly entertaining mechanics, and an ability to immediately "dive in" to the game at any time, even if for just 5 minutes (or 3 hours).
The problem with those games is that they're generally aimed at an audience that has never played video games, or has but doesn't actually love them.
Zombies: flesh-eating, mindless ex-humanoid beings with an insatiable lust for carnage. If you love those ultra-violent dirty beasts as much as I do, then you've undoubtedly been waiting with bated breath for the new Madfinger (of Shadowgun fame) first person shooter Dead Trigger. And now, the wait is [almost] over.
For the unaware, Dead Trigger puts you behind the gun in the ongoing unholy war against the undead - it's kill or be killed eaten in this post-apocalyptic action-horror thriller.
Shadowgun, a game we recently reviewed, is a Tegra-straining, visually impressive, polished action game that has been quickly garnering attention since it was announced. Looking to take players' experience over the top, MadFinger Games opened a thread on their own forums earlier this month, indicating that they were working hard on multiplayer capabilities for Shadowgun, asking for users' "wishes, opinions, or ideas."
Shadowgun is already a great experience, and at the low price of $4.99 US, it's an amazing value.
