Video: DROID BIONIC First Impressions

I've had the BIONIC just about 24 hours now, and that's enough time to draw a few, basic conclusions about the phone. It's not sufficient for a full review, obviously, but if you're itching to know more about how using the BIONIC is from an Android addict's perspective, you might want to check out my first impressions video.

Basically, I discuss the phone's hand feel, display, performance, and a few other less noteworthy items. It's a bit more than you'll get from walking into a Verizon store and playing with a display model for 5 minutes, but it's a lot less than what you'll see in our full (and extensive) review, which should be coming some time in the next few days.

HTC Holiday Smiles For The Camera, Shows Off AT&T's LTE Network Speeds

A couple of weeks ago the first photos of the HTC Holiday emerged, displaying its impressive hardware innards for the world to see. Now, BGR has landed some new photos of this up-and-coming device, which includes speed tests that show what AT&T's LTE network is capable of. Clocking an astounding 29Mbps, AT&T is looking to put the hurt on VZW's LTE network once it becomes more widespread.

The hardware on this phone is nothing to scoff at either, as early reports revealed a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP and 1.3MP cameras, and Android 2.3.4.

Samsung Stratosphere Press Shots Leak - It's Basically An LTE Epic 4G For Verizon

We've been hearing rumors of the upcoming Samsung Stratosphere for Verizon Wireless for a little while now, and some press shots for the device have now fallen into the hands of PocketNow.

Early rumors suggested that this device could be VZW's reason for not getting the GSII, but more recently,it was compared it to Sprint's Epic 4G. After seeing the pictures, I would say that the latter is pretty dead-on, as it looks nearly identical to the Epic.

While there isn't a whole lot of info on the spec front at this time, it is clear that this will be an LTE device -- and considering it's most likely a mid-ranger, I expect it to be the first affordable 4G device to hit Big Red.

HTC Puccini Officially Lands On AT&T's LTE Network, Will Be Named 'Jetstream' And Cost $699... On Contract

We've been hearing rumors about a 10-inch HTC tablet codenamed Puccini for nearly three months now, and AT&T has finally taken the wraps off of this Honeycomb 3.1 tablet, revealing its official name, price, and availability.

The tablet will be known as the HTC Jetstream and will run on Ma Bell's brand-spankin'-new LTE network, sporting the previously rumored hardware:

10.1-inch display
1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
8MP rear shooter, 1.3MP front camera
LTE (700/AWS)
HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS (850/1900/2100 MHz)
EDGE/GPRS (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
Android 3.1 with Sense UX
HTC Scribe Pen included

While this may sound like a pretty solid device, the price doesn't even begin to justify it: $699 with a two-year agreement.

Beefed Up Samsung Galaxy S II LTE Headed To Rogers This Fall

We told you about Rogers' plan to bring LTE to the Toronto area this morning, which included a mention of the LTE infused Galaxy S II. More information about this monster device has now surfaced, and it is chocked full of upgrades.

Aside from the inclusion of LTE connectivity, this device will be housing a 1.5GHz processor (most likely Exynos), NFC, and a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display, making this the most likely candidate for beastliest device of the year.

No exact release date is available just yet, only that it will be available sometime this fall. Congrats, Canada - I'm officially jealous.

Rogers All Set To Expand Its LTE Network To Toronto On September 28

Back in July, Rogers unleashed the first Canadian LTE network in Ottawa, and now it's looking to expand that service to Toronto on September 28th, bringing blazing fast speeds to the country's largest city.

Aside from the additional network coverage, Rogers also announced a new LTE infused product line set to land this fall, which includes the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, the LTE Rocket mobile hotspot, "an LTE tablet from a leading manufacturer," and a yet-unnamed HTC phone.

As far as this mysterious tablet is concerned, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens to be the HTC Puccini, considering it recently cleared the FCC with Rogers' LTE radio onboard.

Samsung Releases Kernel Source Code For Verizon LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1, Let The Overclocking Commence

Just two short days after Sammy released the kernel source code for the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 10.1, developer pershoot released the first overclocked kernel for the device, clocking a smoking 1.4GHz. The VZW variant of the Tab 10.1 will now be able to receive the same treatment, as the kernel source just hit Sammy's Open Source Release Center.

Samsung Officially Announces The Tab 8.9 LTE And The Upgraded 1.5GHz 4.5" Galaxy S II LTE. Could The US S II Variants Have These Upgrades At Launch?

Whoosh - looks like we can take the report of upgrades to the already impressive Galaxy S II and the upcoming Tab 8.9 from the rumor bucket and place it carefully on top of the confirmed stack. In fact, the rumor was not only spot-on regarding everything Samsung just officially announced, it even had more information that Samsung didn't cover, which means some details will keep the rumor tag until we find out more.

First up, the Galaxy S II LTE (hilariously misspelled as LITE in the official blog post in one place - it's anything but lite) is not only gaining an LTE radio, it's indeed getting bumped from 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz - still dual-core, of course.

Dat's Phat: DROID BIONIC Gets A Side Profile Shot, Has Junk In Trunk

Not really. Actually, the BIONIC looks pretty svelte in these images leaked by the good folks over at Pop Herald. Here's the BIONIC stand-alone, and side by side with the DROID X2:

While the BIONIC clearly is thicker than the DX2, it's not by that much. Of course, press shots (which these likely are) have a tendency to play with lighting and perspective in order to make a phone seem thinner than it might actually be, so until you hold it in your hand, it's all kind of relative.

Still, based on these images, it's thinner than I expected.
