AT&T Flips On 4G LTE In 16 New Markets This Week

AT&T continues to pursue an aggressive 4G LTE rollout strategy, activating towers in Missouri, Texas, and North Carolina over the past couple of days for a total of 16 new markets. It's all part of the carrier's larger plan to reach 250 million Americans with LTE coverage by the end of this year. AT&T's LTE network currently covers almost 200 million.

Here's a list of cities graced with AT&T's fastest this week:

AT&T Turns On LTE In 20 More Markets Including, Shreveport, Chattanooga, And Huntsville

Does anybody remember when Verizon started deploying batches of new LTE markets by the week? Well, it seems that AT&T wants to be in on some of that action. Earlier this month, the second largest carrier launched a string of new sites with the promise of several more to come this summer. As of today, new or expanded coverage came to 20 more locations.

Sprint Announces 21 New LTE Markets, Including Rollouts In Three Major Regions

Sprint announced a major expansion of its still-nascent LTE network today, with three large markets headlining the Now Network's growing 4G footprint: Los Angeles, Charlotte, and Memphis. 18 other, smaller markets were also announced. Here's the full list.

AT&T LTE Is Live In Six Markets In California, Missouri, Tennessee, North And South Carolina, 77 More Coming This Summer

Ma Bell is still markedly behind Verizon when it comes to total LTE coverage in the United States, but they're catching up quickly. Today AT&T 4G LTE service has been activated for Napa and Santa Rosa-Petaluma, California, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Kalamazoo, Missouri, Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Jackson, Tennessee. The company has also announced expanded markets in New Haven County, Connecticut, Greensboro, North Carolina, Charleston and Walterboro, South Carolina, and the San Francisco Bay area, including parts of San Rafael, Pittsburg, Antioch, Livermore, Brentwood, and Novato.

AT&T has also announced plans to bring LTE service to a whopping 77 new markets this summer, across 33 states and the US Virgin Islands.

US Cellular Expanding LTE Coverage To 30 New Markets In November, Mostly Northeast And Midwest

With T-Mobile acquiring MetroPCS, things are starting to look mighty lonely in the regional carrier department here in the States. Even so, US Cellular has been making admirable strides in rolling out LTE services to their relatively small customer base, even beating some of the bigger carriers to the punch in many of their markets. Starting on November 5th, US Cellular will be adding new markets and expanding existing LTE zones... just in time for Galaxy Note II owners to enjoy them.

LTE will be switched on in select cities in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia, with LTE coverage expanded in Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

If you're still waiting on Sprint's LTE to hit your area (which should be quite a few of you), don't sweat it. The network has already released a rollout schedule for the next few months - if you didn't make the cut this time, maybe you'll have better luck in the near future.

Sprint Bringing Its 4G LTE Network To 'More Than 100 Cities In The Coming Months'

Verizon Announces LTE Expansion In Four Markets, Adds Service In One On February 16th

Verizon's list of LTE upgrades is a short one this month. Big Red is expanding its 4G LTE network in four existing markets, and only adding one new market to the mix this go around:

Expansion in Little Rock, AR
Expansion in Rapid City, SD
Expansion in Clarksville, TN
Expansion in San Antonio, TX
Activating 4G LTE in Cookeville, TN

We normally see between 10 and 20 new markets on Verizon's monthly upgrade schedule, but with most major metropolitan areas already covered in blazing fast LTE, VZW appears to be slowing down before blanketing the rest of the country. Don't feel alone if you're one of the many who have yet to get some Big Red lovin' - we're all in that boat together.

Congratulations to all who live in the above mentioned areas - you're going to love the enhanced connection speed. I recently spent a week in an LTE area and it ruined me - going back to 3G is just painful once you've experienced hyperfast.
