Thanks to sano614 over at the XDA forums you can now have a few of the goodies from the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer on other Honeycomb tablets, specifically the super-nifty My Water live wallpaper and ASUS's weather widget. You've probably seen this wallpaper before - it's the beverage-esque one that moves around on your screen as you shift your tablet around, complete with ice cubes and bubbles. The weather widget offers what you would expect: current conditions and temperature in a visually stimulating package.

If you've been on the hunt for a new live wallpaper, then look no more - XDA member Rawat has gotten his hands on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II and pulled a couple of live wallpapers from it that are ready for use on any WVGA device. These install just like a regular .apk and do not require root access or any other system modifications in order to work.

The first one is a simple beach setting complete with sand and tide.

I have seen a lot of live wallpapers and, truth be told, I'm generally not that impressed most of the time. Every once in a while, though, one comes along that is just so nice that I want to share it with everyone. This is one of those times.

Photile Live Wallpaper creates a LWP from any existing image. It adds a level of complexity to the images, while not overdoing it (a difficult task, I might add).

If there is one thing I love, it’s a nice, relaxing wallpaper. I do not want to see chaos when I look at my homescreen (or computer screen for that matter), and the Go Wallpaper Dev Team has delivered a solution that is both elegant and beautiful by way of three new live wallpapers – Sakura Falling, 3D Skyrocket, and Hyperspace. Because they use OpenGL, these are some of the smoothest, most realistic live wallpapers that I have ever seen.

Are you one of the many that likes the look of Windows Phone 7, but doesn’t want to give up your existing launcher in lieu of a WP7 lookalike? If so, we have an app for you. It’s called Launcher Wall and feels similar to Windows Phone 7, without duplicating the interface.

snapshot-1

Launcher Wall is an interactive live wallpaper comprised of customizable, animated tile-style icons with an animated background. It is pretty straightforward; each tile corresponds to a user defined app in which you can change the size, placement, angle, size, transparency, and animation.

Truly stylish clock/date widgets of high quality are hard to come by, so whenever we see one released, we jump on it right away. Today's highlight is Typography Wall that was just released into the Android Market.

Typography Wall is actually a live wallpaper that comes with a variety of configurable elements, by default set up exactly the way you see below. You can use it without any modifications or jump right into changing things, from using your own background to changing transparency, rotation, blinking, positioning, and other aspects of each element.

Given how popular live wallpaper (LWP) posts are, it's surprising that - with the exception of the Dancing Droid LWP - we haven't really had a big one since we found the R2-D2 set back in early September. Consider the dry spell over: meet the newest post-worthy LWP, 3D Active Blocks. The work of XDA-Devs member mmone3, the premise is simple: it takes pictures (either preset or pictures from your gallery) and breaks them into blocks; the blocks then break up, move, and transform (via various effects) into other pictures.

If you're like me, the one item on your phone that changes more than your partner's mind is your wallpaper. As a general rule of thumb, I don't use live wallpapers since they eat away at my Droid Incredible's battery so quickly, but today I found a live wallpaper that was worthy of a download and an installation just so I could show it off to my friends. The live wallpaper showcases our little green buddy dancing his heart out for our pleasure.

It happened to the Droid X, it happened to the Galaxy S, and now it's happening to the Droid 2. The Droid 2's live wallpaper, the one with the evil red eye, has been extracted and is ready to be used on any other device running Android 2.0 or above.

Oh, and as if that wasn't enough, it now comes in nine versions, including:

  • the original wallpaper
  • modified versions called Evil Andy and Evil Grey Andy
  • a mod with the eye from the Droid X, only on the Droid 2's background image
  • a Cyanogen Mod themed one
  • a BlackDroid edition
  • a green theme
  • a gold theme
  • and a wallpaper where the eye is from the Droid 2 and the background is from the Droid X.
