Usually we'd save a cool live wallpaper for our next roundup, but this one's just so groovy we had to let our readers know about it now. GyroSpace 3D is a live wallpaper that, like many others, uses your device's gyroscope for visual effects. But the space-scapes shown off in GyroSpace move around on a three-dimensional plane, coming in and out of the user's filed of view with remarkable smoothness. It's a neat effect that's not unlike a stereoscopic 3D screen, without the added hardware.
You know who loves giving stuff away as much as we do? Handy Apps. They're always down with offering up some cool gear to hand out, and today, we have a couple of 16GB Nexus 7s for two lucky readers. One of them could be you!
Photo Wall FX - Live Wallpaper
So, what's the occasion? The release of their new app Photo Wall FX! PWFX is a neat take on the live wallpaper.
Despite what its name suggests, DualBoot Games actually makes some of the best live wallpapers around. We've featured several of their offerings before, and the newest one to hit the LWP realm could be the best one yet.
It's called Ocean HD, and as you've probably already guessed, it takes you down into the deep blue for a beautifully elegant and serene aquatic scene. Since it's a live wallpaper, it's fully customizable and interactive.
As you probably know, the full Galaxy S III ROM leaked over the weekend. Naturally, users over the XDA forums started picking it apart and making al the goodies available for download. In fact, we've already taken an in-depth look at S-Voice.
Top: Live Wallpapers; Bottom: Static walls
Now, a little something for everyone: media files, static wallpapers, and live wallpapers have been extracted for your downloading pleasure. They're nothing insanely profound here, but we all love new alarms, notifications, ringtones, and wallpapers from new gadgets - especially high end pieces of kit.
To our friends overseas: no spoilers! Depending on where you live in the world, you're either coming down from an Avengers high, or eagerly anticipating the end of your four-year wait for this movie. Either way, you could probably use a little more of Marvel's most famous superheroes of late in your life. So, here. Have an official live wallpaper.
The live wallpaper costs $0.99. We say this because, although you can download it for free here, the wallpaper requires an in-app purchase of 99 cents to unlock the heroes.
Do you like live wallpapers? Do you use live wallpapers? If so, then here's a new one for you: it's called Digital Embers, and it's just downright pretty.

When it comes to my Android devices' home screens, I'm fickle. It is rare that a wallpaper or layout will last more than a few days. That being said, I find that live wallpapers tend to have a much longer shelf life than their static counterparts, perhaps because they are – generally – so much more dynamic. Taking the concept of a truly dynamic LWP to another level entirely, Central Core Studios has introduced RadiantWalls HD – PlanetScapes to the Android Market, making your device "a window looking out onto the surface of the planet Avalon."
The wallpaper comes in two flavors – free and paid.
Nvidia has created this Skyrim live wallpaper, in case you somehow forget during the day you would rather be at home parked in front of your computer.
This picture isn't entirely accurate, when you get it on a real device, there's snowfall and rolling fog. Other than that, there isn't much to it. The foreground and background are on different layers, so they scroll at different speeds when you switch screens.
Adam Ratana, creator of a series of skull-themed live wallpapers, recently released Steampunk Skull Live Wallpaper to the Android Market, bringing an interactive clockwork skull to your device's home screen.
The wallpaper is dynamic and interesting, without being too busy or distracting. The gears are interactive, speeding up or slowing down as you manipulate the screen. The LWP also includes settings which enable users to alter the wallpaper's performance to save battery life.
The creators of such marvels as My Beach and Celtic Garden, DualBoot Games, have outdone themselves this holiday season with Christmas HD - what I believe to be the most intricate live wallpaper I've seen on Android in a long time (ever?).
Customizable lights, gifts, tree topper, snowflakes, garlands, and a Christmas countdown are just the tip of the iceberg. Wait till you see your own photo above the fireplace, your family's names embroiled on the stockings, and a note to Santa signed by the same guy or gal who's looking back at you in the mirror every morning.
