[Updated: It's Official - Runs Both Gingerbread & Honeycomb] ASUS Phone + Brainless 10" Tablet Shell = Padfone

We already kind of knew a tablet/phone tag team would be coming out of ASUS at Computex this week, so today's leaked press photos of the symbiotic duo, simply called Padfone, neither shock nor disappoint.

What ASUS will undoubtedly officially announce tomorrow is a brainless tablet shell combined with a phone that fits snugly right in the back, held by this ridiculous-looking mechanism that teases my imagination with a world full of Russian Matryoshka-like devices that all fit inside each other.

Update 5/30/11: It's official! See the press release towards the bottom. Just like with the Atrix, the phone will charge from the tablet's battery, and judging by Engadget's announcement photos, it looks like the phone will be running Gingerbread, while the tablet will be rocking Honeycomb.

Download: EVO View 4G Full Release Firmware Leaked, Get It Now

911sniper has done it again - this time with a full RUU (full release firmware) from the upcoming EVO View 4G, Sprint's 4G-ified version of the now-available HTC Flyer (the latter is on sale now at Best Buy).

The hefty file weighs in at a staggering 522MB - and given the massive load that's going to be placed on 911sniper's mirror, we're going to try and get a copy of it up on our own high-speed mirror in the next hour (as soon as we finish downloading it), so that the community can get cracking on this thing.

Full RUU files allow developers to get their hands on what are often older flashable ROMs, which may contain unfixed exploits allowing rooting or bootloader unlocking.

Rumor: Dell Streak Pro 10-inch Tablet Packing Tegra 2, Keyboard Dock, Weighs As Much As a XOOM?

After spending some reviewing the Dell Venue last week, I have a renewed interest in the world of all things combining Dell and Android. But, let's face it, Dell hasn't exactly had a great track record with its Android hardware, particularly its first attempt at a tablet - the universally-disliked Streak 7.

The Streak name, then, does evoke a bit of a grimace for most folks familiar with Android hardware. The Streak 5 wasn't much of a winner, either - particularly because it shipped with the ancient Android 1.6, and had an OS update delay that could only be described in Samsung proportions.

Well then, you'll be interested to hear that the folks at This is my next have a second (albeit related) leak for Magenta customers - a roadmap detailing their device releases from now until September of 2011, as well as some glimpses of what we can expect beyond that. Without further ado, let's introduce the devices:

  • HTC Sensation 4G, Samsung Exhibit 4G, and Samsung GT2: Admittedly, these won't come as much of a surprise, as their release has already been confirmed. June 8
  • Samsung Galaxy Suit: Originally announced as the Galaxy Mini, T-Mobile will be releasing their own version called the Galaxy Suit, though we don't know how it will differ from the original.

Samsung Hercules Headed To T-Mobile: It's Like An Infuse, But Dual Core

T-Mobile customers who were concerned that they may not be getting their own version of the Galaxy S 2 need not worry any more - according to a big leak over at This is my next, T-Mobile is prepping to release the Samsung Hercules (a codename, so it will likely be something far more vague and meaningless by the time it hits stores). The specs are very similar to both the Galaxy S II and Infuse 4G:

  • 4.5" 800 x 480 Super AMOLED Plus screen
  • Android 2.3
  • NFC support
  • Measurements: 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches (nearly identical to the Infuse)
  • Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual-core APQ8060 processor (as opposed to Samsung's own Exynos)
  • 8 megapixel camera with flash
  • 1080p video capture
  • Front-facing camera

Sounds awesome, right?

HTC Puccini: A Dual-Core, Honeycomb, 4G LTE AT&T Tablet - Who Names These Things, Anyway?

The exciting conclusion of our three-part HTC-leak-o-rama comes in the form of a yet-to-be-announced HTC tablet known as the "Puccini." Sounds like an Italian dish (Note: actually, Puccini was a famous Italian composer, so take what you will from the codename). Anyway, this thing's packing, here's what we know:

  • WXGA display (800x1280) - we're thinking 9-10" on that basis
  • MSM8660 dual-core processor (same chipset we just saw in the leaked HTC Lead)
  • Android Honeycomb 3.0.1
  • AT&T LTE support

As an AT&T customer myself, between the HTC Lead and this guy, I'm pretty juiced. This is the first AT&T LTE device we've heard of so far, and that's kind of exciting in and of itself.

[Updated: Now With Fast Mirror] HTC EVO 3D System Dump Leaked, Get It While It's Hot

In part two of our exciting series of HTC leaks today is the system dump (I'm really trying not to make poop jokes, here) of the HTC EVO 3D, Sprint's upcoming flagship smartphone. Again, the intrepid 911sniper blog has provided the goods. I wonder if these things just fall off the back of trucks. Internet trucks, that is.

The EVO 3D is coming this summer, and we spent a little time with it back at CTIA in March (check out our hands-on here), and were thoroughly impressed. The dual-core status, 3D camera and display, along with Sprint's 4G WiMAX make for a killer combo that's sure to live up to the success of the 3D's forefather, the EVO 4G.

HTC Lead For AT&T System Dump Leaked, Reveals 4.3" Screen, Dual Cores, Gingerbread

For round one of the HTC device leaks today, we present for your consideration the HTC Lead - a device that will be coming to the AT&T network at some point in the future (...most likely).

The ever-vigilent 911sniper blog "stumbled" upon a system dump for the upcoming phone, and it reveals some interesting tidbits in regard to its specifications:

  • Dual-core MSM8660 1.2GHz processor
  • 4.3" WVGA (800x480) display [not qHD - oddly]
  • 768MB RAM
  • Android 2.3.4
  • 5MP rear camera (no front camera)
  • AT&T support (presumably some kind of 4G - either HSPA+ or LTE)

The WVGA resolution and screen size, along with the amount of RAM, make this sound suspiciously like a beefed-up Desire HD (Inspire 4G).

UPDATE: The Gingerbread radio is apparently being linked to hard bricks. We have removed the link for the time being, until this issue is resolved, or a new radio version is leaked.

This morning 911Sniper dropped a leaked Gingerbread test build for the HTC Thunderbolt, but there was one issue: it wasn't flashable. Our buddy Justin Case from TeamAndIRC immediately took it to the lab and started dissecting its parts to see what needed to be done. When he returned, blood soaked and sweating, he delivered an amazing thing to us - a working Gingerbread ROM. Flashable, functional, and near-official, we offer this to you as download.
