It's been a long, hard, winding road to get here, but finally Sprint has announced via its forums that the Evo 4G LTE will finally arrive in Sprint stores Saturday, June 2nd. The phone will still retail for $199. Amusingly, the new launch date coincides almost perfectly with the original launch date of the Evo 4G, June 4th, 2010. Those of you who picked up the original Evo and are committed to the line will be able to celebrate your 2-year anniversary and contract expiration in style.
An eager, eagle-eyed XDA member spotted a Google ad while searching for "xperia ion" that may be showing AT&T's hand concerning the release date of said device. One of a few ads that appear when searching for the device states that the Xperia Ion is "Coming Exclusively to AT&T in June." Well, that narrows it down a bit!
The ad doesn't give a specific date, but it does narrow down the date range significantly.
Now that the cat's finally out of the bag, we've all gotten our fix of Galaxy S III news for the day. Soon, though, we'll be jonesing again. It's inevitable. Knowing this, Samsung has us covered. If you're eager to hear more news about the Galaxy S III, you can head on over to the sign-up page and be put on the list to get more info as the device's launch gets closer.
Yet another perk to the Galaxy S III (like we needed more), Flipboard, a popular iOS app for aggregating and reading news feeds, is going to be an SGSIII exclusive for a short period, before landing on the Play Store. Just like the iOS reader, you can integrate various news feeds, as well as feeds from your social networks, and control them all with a gesture-based interface.
No word yet on how long Samsung will have the exclusive on this app.
Finally, an end to all rumors about the Galaxy S III and its variants. Or is it? We'll find out at Samsung's launch event, which we're covering live on location in London. My hat's off to Samsung for creating more buzz about this phone than any other company making Android devices has ever made about any Android phone or tablet, all without actually revealing it .
The action starts May 3rd at 11AM PDT, 2PM EDT, 7PM BST (London time) - the live coverage form on this page will automatically update when the wheels are in motion.
Hope you're not tired of hearing about the Google Drive! As the rumors about Google's Totally Not Dropbox service leak out in ever-increasing droves, it gets safer and safer to assume the launch is imminent. According to Reuters, Google may be launching the service as soon as Tuesday. Or, as they're calling it across the pond, "today."
Reuters also reports that Google will be offering paid storage options going all the way up to 100GB for a price.
Remember Acer's quad-core tablet that managed to beat out ASUS' Transformer Prime by a pretty wide price difference? It's available from Amazon for an easier-on-the-wallet $450 right now. If you're holding out for the silver version, you can still place a pre-order with Amazon here. In case you need a refresher, here are the specs:
10.1-inch 1,280x800 display
Quad-Core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor
32GB built-in storage with microSD Card slot
5MP Rear shooter, 1MP front-facing camera
9,800mAh battery for 12 hours of continuous video playback
Android 4.0 with Acer Ring
The Olympics-branded tablet is an attractive choice for those who are looking for a budget tablet that doesn't strip away features that the bigger players share.
Rumors about the mythical Google Drive have been ramping up lately. The rumored Google Drive is gunning for Dropbox with universal storage and sync. The Next Web is reporting that the service may launch as early as next week, giving users an initial 5GB of storage space that will sync between Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices. Pretty sweet!
Earlier rumors suggest an early April release which we're pretty well past now, but with the intensity rumors have been milling about lately, it would surprise us if it wasn't going to drop soon.
While we're all drooling over the One X (codenamed Evo 4G LTE on Sprint), HTC's new middle child is working its way into the US markets. TmoNews has acquired some leaked slides that declare rather confidently that the HTC One S will land on T-Mo on April 25th, keeping its surname. The date, TmoNews notes, is a Wednesday which T-Mobile is typically known for favoring as a launch day.
Little else is known (like a price) at this point, except that T-Mo is currently training employees on the talking points of the One S before it become available.
Team iLuminate, one of the most visually impressive and creative dance troupes who just happened to win be one of the finalists in America's Got Talent last year, recently joined Labrinth in this stunning performance at the Sony Xperia S party. There really isn't much to say here - just watch:
I've been a huge fan of iLuminate, and while this isn't by far their most original performance, it was still quite a treat.
