Sprint Rolls Out LTE To More Cities, Begins Network Vision Rollout In Chicago, New York, And Los Angeles

Sprint has some presents for you, especially if you live in the midwest. For starters, several cities are getting their shiny new LTE networks lit up today including Wichita, KS, Waukegan-Lake County, IL and more (listed below). As an added bonus, the #3 carrier also announced that the Network Vision rollout is beginning in Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles. For those who are unaware, the Network Vision plan provides for significant improvements to the existing 3G infrastructure, in addition to eventual LTE upgrades.

Here's the list of markets that will see LTE activated in their area:

Lawrence, KS
Topeka, KS
Wichita, KS
Waukegan-Lake County, IL
Barnstable-Hyannis/Mid-Cape, MA

It's not a huge rollout, but the improvements to the 3G network in Chicago, NYC, and LA should be welcome as Sprint makes ready LTE coverage in those cities.

OnLive Launches L.A. Noire: Touch Edition, Bringing Context-Specific Touch Interaction To Award-Winning Detective Thriller

OnLive, a hugely popular on-demand gaming service which came to Android late last year, announced tonight the release of L.A. Noire: Touch Edition, which Founder and CEO Steve Perlman dubs "BY FAR the highest-performance game ever designed for tablets."

For those unaware, OnLive features 25 other touch-playable titles, some of which have been totally redesigned to support touch interaction. L.A. Noire is the latest title to get a touch makeover and is, according to Perlman, "the highest-performance console video game developed specifically for touch-enabled play via mobile cloud gaming. Ever."

Integrating context-specific touch controls with console-quality games successfully marries high-quality gaming with the dynamic touch interaction demanded by the tablet platform, making for an awesome gameplay experience.

[Rumor] Sprint Adds Los Angeles To List Of Planned Network Vision/LTE Markets For 2012

Just a few days after allegedly adding its NYC market to the list of 2012 LTE rollout locations, Sprint has evidently begun planning to light up the Los Angeles Metro area by the end of 2012 as well.

Sprint's Los Angeles Metro market currently spans all of Los Angeles County, including Avalon and Santa Catalina. According to S4GRU, Orange County, North LA, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Diego, and Lower Central Valley are included in different markets, and are expected to deploy some time after Los Angeles.

S4GRU also notes that while converting the necessary sites to Network Vision standards will take over 8 months, individual sites will be activated on a monthly basis, meaning customers who purchase Sprint's first round of 4G LTE-enabled devices will still have a chance of enjoying enhanced data speeds.

Sprint 4G Launches In Los Angeles, CA; Washington, D.C.; Miami, FL; Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, OH

As the Thanksgiving weekend is coming to an end, residents of Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Miami, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus can say thank you to Sprint today as well. The nation's 3rd largest mobile carrier announced that 4G, otherwise known as WiMax, is officially live in the aforementioned cities. This puts the Los Angeles area full 2 days ahead of schedule, as the 4G launch there was expected on December 1st. SF Bay Area next, please (the launch there is expected sometime in December)!

Go ahead, fire up your EVOs and Epics, and give the network a good test using the official Speedtest.net app (download below) - after all, your speeds should have increased about 10 times compared to 3G.

Sprint And Clearwire Teaming Up To Provide WiMax In NYC Starting Nov. 1st, LA From Dec. 1st And SF By Year's End.

This news has been some time coming, but it finally looks like the time is nigh: Sprint WiMax will soon be available in three of America's hottest of hot-spots. While Sprint has had 4G-capable devices out for several months now, the country's two main technology centres have been starved of WiMax coverage. Sprint may fear the same backlash AT&T received when their network got hammered by the iPhone, so they must be hoping for a more positive reception.

The coverage itself will be provided in conjunction with Clearwire, who have been busy setting up their networks in preparation for these final deadlines.
