Secure USB Password Manager myIDkey Zooms Past $150,000 Kickstarter Goal

We don't often cover Kickstarter campaigns – after all, the platform is flooded with entries that may not be worth mentioning, or are dead on arrival. Sometimes, though, a gadget comes through that exceeds expectations, and the myIDkey is one of those.

myIDkey is a voice-activated secure USB drive that manages your passwords. Across all devices. Oh, and it has a fingerprint scanner. The project has absolutely demolished its $150,000 funding goal, reaching (at the time of writing) $164,126 with twenty seven days left to go.

The handy USB device looks to give you a "key to all your devices," connecting directly through USB to your PC or via Bluetooth to your mobile device(s).

Leaked Slide Shows Off LG Optimus G Pro With A 5" 1080p Display, 3,000 mAh Battery, And Snapdragon S4 Pro

Just yesterday, an LG rep let us know that, among other things, the "G" branding would continue to be representative of the company's top-tier hardware. Today, we get a glimpse at what the next great handset could look like. This leaked slide shows off the LG Optimus G Pro with a gorgeous 5" 1080p display, a gargantuan 3,000 mAh battery, a gratuitous Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and a glorious 13-megapixel rear camera.

Google Releases 'Tablet App Quality Checklist' To Help Guide Developers On Best Tablet Practices

In the ongoing effort to make apps better on Android, Google has released another new guide for the developers who may be looking for guidance on just how to build a great tablet-oriented app. The piece has some fairly detailed information, including how much to adjust padding of UI elements and how to target different screen sizes and resolutions. There is also more broad guidance on how to make the most of larger screen real-estate.

One thing that becomes clear as you read this advice is that the company doesn't want everyone developing for the Nexus 7 and ignoring other form factors.

Play Store Gift Card Pages Are Now Live, 'On Their Way To Retail Stores Near You'

We'd previously heard that Play Store Gift Cards are set to arrive officially on August 26th. While that may be true for stores that are still waiting on their shipments (read: not Target), Google has decided to take the wraps off of the whole thing ahead of time. The elusive URL we've seen floating around for a gift card landing page is now live. As well as that support page we found last night.

The landing page confirms that gift cards are on their way to Radio Shack, Target and Game Stop. No official confirmation of any other retailers, although we've heard that Wal-Mart is also ~~likely~~ definitely on the short list.

Yahoo! Sports Beyond Gold 2012 Provides Mobile Olympics Coverage, Just Like You'd Expect

The games are underway in London and the whole world is watching. If you'd like to follow the course of the events without spending the next couple weeks glued to your television, Yahoo! may just have you covered. The app is decidedly slick-looking, though some users have reported some trouble with the app, however in our test runs, it's worked adequately. Your mileage may vary.

The app has sections for news, photos, and quick access to which countries have won what medals for which events. Because, really, isn't that why we all watch? The app seems fully featured for the casual viewer, though it lacks any video streams, so it's not quite the complete experience, but it should be plenty to keep you update while you're away from the telly.

Google's Android Developer's site got a massive overhaul today, with a brand new UI, tons of new features, and a unified guide for developers on how to design, develop, and distribute their apps all in one place. The new site is fantastic-looking. Clearly Google wants to engage developers more and give them more guidance on how to succeed on the Play Store. So, what say we take a tour?

[New App] CNNGo Gives You Travel Info About Asia, Also A Little Bit Of Info From The Rest Of The World

Heads up, jetsetters! CNN has released an app for those of you who like to travel abroad. Specifically, those of you who travel to Asia or Australia will find the app particularly useful, but everyone who's about to leave their 20 square mile home area should take a look. The app aggregates local info, photos, and news coverage that you can filter by region.

The app, and the website for that matter, despite billing themselves as sources for "global" info and views from around "the world", seem to focus heavily on Asian stories and topics. So, if you need a wealth of info on travel in Europe, and never plan on venturing to the East, this app might overwhelm you a bit, but it's still packed with tons of great info and beautiful photos from around the world.

American Airlines Lands The Official App In The Android Market

While looking through the recent app list tonight, I noticed that not less than 2 hours ago, American Airlines landed its very own app in the Android Market.

Following the other big players in the flying business, American Airlines is now letting you:

view your reservation info
check in
access your mobile boarding pass - this is excellent
view your place on upgrade and standby lists
take pictures of where you parked (there are better ways, you know... *cough* GPS *cough* ParkDroid *cough*)
view your Elite status and progress
book flights
check flight status and schedules
play Sudoku (what the?..)

Not bad at all for what seems to be a great tool with a pleasant interface and thoughtfully positioned menus.
