GALAXY-Tab-7.7-Product-Image-6

If you're sporting Verizon's variant of the Tab 7.7, then you're probably sick of Honeycomb. Good news for you! The ICS update is ready to go and should begin rolling out in the coming days.

PantechUSA announced via Twitter this morning that its Burst budget phone will finally be receiving an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, in a little less than a week. Curiously, it won't be available over the air. Details haven't been released yet, but the update will be made available on the company's website here.

We should hear more about how the download will be doled out as the date gets closer and, hopefully, some more information on what the update will bring.

LG Intuition

If you jumped on the phablet bandwagon as soon as the Intuition hit Big Red's shelves, you've probably been waiting for a root exploit to hit so you can take full control of the system. Good news! Thanks to our boy jcase, you can now have what your heart so desperately desires. Let's get started.

First off, you'll need a couple of things:

  • A fully working ADB setup. If you don't have this, there are plenty or resources on the net - this one happens to be my person favorite because it's so easy and provides exactly what's needed to use ADB and Fastboot.

Last week, Motorola made some changes to its ICS timeline. Most of the changes didn't sound so good - several devices that were originally on the roster to get ICS were changed to "further plans coming soon." Among those devices was the ATRIX, Photon, and Electrify, which are all basically the same phone. Now, Motorola has made yet another change to the timeline, and it's not good news for owners of the aforementioned devices.

Less than a week ago, Motorola updated its ICS upgrade timeline, moving back the tentative release timeframes for many devices. Among those was the Atrix 2, which got its status pushed from "Q3 of 2012" to "further plans coming soon." Initially, that didn't leave us with any sort of good thought, but it looks like we were wrong.

Motorola just released the changelog and other installation information to its My Moto Care site, indicating that the update is indeed coming much sooner than we anticipated. So soon, in fact, that the initial soak test has already begun rolling out.

As shown in both the changelog and the above screenshot, this will bump the Atrix 2 up to Android 4.0.4, with a build number of 67.21.125.

Motorola made some changes to its firmware update timeline this morning. It looks some ICS updates have been delayed, while others that were once promised are now undergoing evaluation. Here's a look at what changed.

  • The Atrix 4G and Atrix 2 were originally slated to get ICS in Q3 of 2012, but have been updated to "further plans coming soon." We're not exactly sure what that means, but it doesn't sound very promising.
  • The Droid XYBOARD 8.2's ICS update was pushed back from Q3 to Q4, despite the fact that its 10.1" brother has been on Android 4.0 since August.
  • The XOOM Family Edition will also have to wait until Q4 to see ICS.

Owners of Verizon's Samsung Galaxy SIII should be keeping an eye out for a software update which VZW says is "coming soon." The update – which sadly is not Jelly Bean – brings to VZW-connected SIII owners a handful of key improvements, enhancements and bug fixes, and brings the device's software build up to IMM76D.I535VRALG7.

Among the changes included in the 30.7MB update are improved stability and connectivity with Back Up Assistant, the ability to use Verizon Remote Diagnostics, improved S Beam connectivity, an NFC (TecTile) bug fix, and a "No SIM" fix.

The support docs for Verizon's variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 have just been updated with details of a new OTA LP11 that will bring Ice Cream Sandwich. The update for the Wi-Fi version started rolling out in the US several weeks ago, and T-Mo started pushing the update through Kies to its variant earlier this month.

It's nice to see Verizon make right in a somewhat timely manner, as this update brings some really nice features to the device, and the addition of ICS makes it feel like an entirely new tablet.

The RAZR M was certainly one of the more interesting phones Motorola announced last week, even if it did come with a disappointing definition of "edge-to-edge." Today, the phone launched on Verizon Wireless, but if you're already looking to score a discount, Wirefly has both the black and white versions available for $79.99 with a new two-year contract, or for upgrading customers.

Keep an eye out for Ron's review of the RAZR M later today. No matter what he ends up saying about this phone, though, Motorola is starting to make us excited again. While this phone won't be shipping with Jelly Bean, Motorola has promised you'll see it before year's end.

About a week ago, I reviewed the Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 set-top box. Throughout the review, my one major complaint with the device was that the Android 2.3 interface is nothing short of terrible on a large display. The ray of shining light through it all, though, was the fact that Diamond promised an Android 4.0 update was coming soon.

I have to be honest here: I expected it to be weeks - or even months - before the ICS update was ready to go. But here we are, one short week later, and the update is now available for download.
