Notion Ink Teams Up With Texas Instruments - Adam II To Pack OMAP4, Other TI Components

In a post to Notion Ink's official blog today, the Indian manufacturer announced a new partnership with Texas Instruments. The company indicated that the Adam II (a follow up on Notion's first Android tablet) will feature TI's OMAP44xx processor, as well as a few other TI components:

Adam II will be using OMAP44xx processor along with other TI components like Wi-Link 7.0 and Phoenix Audio Power Amplifiers. Adam II will also leverage the power optimizations achieved using mature combination of TI’s integrated power-management IC.

Additionally, Notion Ink revealed that the Adam II will be running Ice Cream Sandwich, and feature "the world's first Modular Based Software Architecture," promising drag-and-drop functionality for creating customized applications.

[Updated x2] Ice Cream Sandwich Update (Android 4.0.3 IML77) For Wi-Fi Motorola XOOMs Now Live In The U.S.

A few days ago, Motorola pushed out a special soak test of the ICS update to a number of Wi-Fi XOOM owners in the U.S. Apparently, no serious issues were found by the company's engineers, as the very same Android 4.0.3 update (IML77) is now rolling out to everyone. Well, everyone in the U.S. with a Wi-Fi XOOM that is. This makes the XOOM the 2nd mainstream tablet device to officially receive ICS, losing out only to the Transformer Prime that beat it to the punch by only a couple of days.

Head over to Settings > About > System Updates to see if the 81.9MB update is available on your XOOM, let it do its thing, and enjoy the greatest version of Android Google has ever created.

CyanogenMod 9 Music App Officially Released For Download, Coming To Market Soon

All-around awesome guy Andrew Neal has released the result of his project in recent months: a new music app that will be coming soon to CyanogenMod 9. The good news is that you can download it now, before it's merged, and install it on your device. The (pretty major) bad news: it's only available for phones running Ice Cream Sandwich. So unless you've got a Galaxy Nexus, ICS-running Nexus S, or any phone rocking CM9, you're pretty much S.O.L. on this beauty.

What's so great about the new music app? In a nutshell: custom themes (and even the default theme is much more of a head-turner than the stock Android music app), gesture/motion controls, custom notifications, custom lockscreens, and more widgets.

Make Your GNOME 3 (Linux) Desktop Look Like ICS With 'Ice Cream Shell'

When a sexy new interface or theme hits the scene, it's quite common for users to port the look to other forms of technology. We've seen Windows desktops customized to look like Android, Linux desktops made to look like Windows, Android phones that replicate iOS, and every variation in between.

Today, we're going to take a look at a new theme for the GNOME 3 shell in Linux, simply called Ice Cream Shell. As you may have guessed by its name, Ice Cream Shell will give your Linux desktop a very polished ICS look. The shell was created for Ubuntu, but it should work on any version of Linux as long as it's running GNOME 3.

[Update: Install It Manually] Motorola's Xoom Update Is Ice Cream Sandwich (IML77) – Rolling Out Now To Testers

Well, it's official - the "project" Xoom owners have been waiting for is an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, meant as a soak test, expected to last through the weekend. Moto has begun pushing the new software as of 9pm PST. An anonymous tipster has provided us with shots of a private section of Motorola's official XOOM support forum, which confirm that the update is going live to those lucky enough to join the test group.

As you can see, Moto has indicated that they do in fact plan on releasing this software very soon, unless "there is some extremely serious issue."

While Xoom Wi-Fi owners lucky enough to participate in Motorola's project test out Ice Cream Sandwich for the tablet that launched Honeycomb, other users can look forward to an update to Android's latest and greatest iteration any time now.

Archos: All G9 Tablets To Be Upgraded To Ice Cream Sandwich By First Week Of February '12

ASUS isn't the only one upgrading their tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich in the beginning of February - we were running around the South Hall at CES 2012 and ran into Archos, which, among other things, manufactures a whole series of G9 tablets (various combinations of 101 and 80).

Guess what - all of the G9 tablets are scheduled to receive ICS starting the first week of February (they did let everyone know it would happen "in the near future" a few days ago, but we were able to get the most up-to-date timeline today). If you happen to buy a unit before the end of February, chances are it'll still have Honeycomb on it (which you can then update immediately), but pre-updated G9s should trickle into the retail channels within a few weeks after the ICS release goes live.

[CES 2012] Huawei MediaPad To Receive ICS Update By The End Of Q1, A New Line Of Colors Coming Soon After

If you're a Huawei MediaPad owner, you'd better get ready for some delicious Ice Cream Sandwich, because all existing versions of the tablet will receive the update to Android 4.0 by the end of the first quarter. In addition, all new MediaPads shipped after the update hits will have ICS pre-loaded.

If you're thinking about buying the tablet anytime soon, there will be some color options added to the mix. You'll have the option of the existing silver model, as well as black, brown, or pink. Sound good? I know I've always wanted a ~~pink~~ brown tablet.

[CES 2012] Lenovo Throws A Second Tablet Into The Ring: The 10-inch, Tegra 3 IdeaTab K2

Lenovo is already kicking it into high gear - not only did it announce its new 10-inch IdeaTab S2 10, but has another 10-inch tablet in the works. This one, named the Lenovo IdeaTab K2, is the successor to the IdeaPad K1, and looks to be a powerful contender. Take a look at the specifications we know so far:

[CES 2012] Acer Unveils Iconia A700 Tablet, Quad-Core Tegra 3 Processor, 1080p Display, Ice Cream Sandwich - Coming Q2 2012

We arrived at CES earlier today, and Acer's pre-CES event was the first item on our agenda (yes, on a Sunday). The company unveiled a number of ultrabooks. a new cloud service, and briefly mentioned that it was bringing a brand-new Android tablet to market later this year - so briefly that we didn't even hear the name of the device mentioned (obviously, we later found out what it was called).

The Iconia A700 will be the company's second attempt at a flagship, 10.1-inch Android tablet. While we didn't grab any hands-on time with the new tab at Acer's press event earlier today, we watched the device demoed and it looks fairly impressive.

ASUS: Android 4.0 Will Be Coming To The Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) ASAP After The Prime Update

Here's a bit of good news for all the OG Transformer owners out there - ASUS has confirmed via its UK Facebook page that the original tablet-netbook hybrid device will indeed be receiving an update to Ice Cream Sandwich. While it was previously assumed that ASUS would continue to support this older-but-still-awesome device, it's good to see the company step up and publicly confirm that the update is coming instead of leaving users questioning it for months.

A quick rump over the to official TF101 landing page also confirmed the upgrade, as it now proudly displays "4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgradable" text alongside its current software version information.
