HTC One Android 4.4.2 Update Is Now Rolling Out In Several European Countries

HTC One users across the pond: your time has come. We're hearing from multiple sources across the Internet that HTC One units in continental Europe and Russia are being updated to the latest version of Android right now. The first one to tip us was reader Matiss Justs, who got the over-the-air alert for Android 4.4.2 just before noon local time (4AM EST) in Latvia.

Other users are reporting in from Finland, Norway, Romania, the Czech Republic, Russia, and Spain. I think it's safe to say that the update is spreading through the major European markets at the moment, though we haven't heard anything from the United Kingdom or Ireland.

PSA: CyanogenMod Builds For AT&T, T-Mobile, And Unlocked HTC One Have Been Unified As 'm7'

Any HTC One owners who spend the day anxiously biting their nails in anticipation of the newest CyanogenMod nightly will be in for a surprise today. The popular ROM has unified several versions of the device under one heading. The AT&T, T-Mobile, and unlocked versions of the One are now on a single m7 ROM.

This change takes effect today with the newest CM 11 nightly, which is available for download. As monthly and release candidate builds are completed, they will be filed under m7 for these HTC One variant instead of the previous m7ul, m7att, and m7tmo names.

HTC Posts Update Status Page With Massive Infographic Explaining How Carrier, Developer, And Google Play Edition Updates Are Made

HTC is pulling back the curtain a bit to give us a peek at what goes into a device update. Not only that, but it has broken out the different versions of the HTC One with individual KitKat statuses and a big infographic explaining the process.

The HTC One comes in three basic types – the carrier version, unlocked/developer edition, and the Google Play Edition device. Of course, it's the carrier version of the HTC One at Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile still waiting on KitKat. These phones are in the integration phase, which includes HTC Sense additions and carrier modifications.

[Update: Rolling Out Now] Verizon HTC One Support PDF Updated With Android 4.3 Information, OTA Should Begin Rolling Out Shortly

If you own a Verizon HTC One, it's time to start tapping that "check for updates" button. Following Friday's announcement by HTC of an Android 4.3 firmware update, Verizon has updated its support PDF for the device with a full changelog. The new firmware version is 2.10.605.1. In addition to the obvious OS upgrade, there seems to be a fair number of bug fixes including:

  • Increased charging speed when using Mophie Juicepack power station
  • Corrected faint ringing noise from earpiece
  • Play purchased ringtones
  • Connection error fixed in the HTC Watch application
  • View the correct date using the all day calendar reminder
  • Conjunction words are better recognized on device keyboard
  • Backup Assistant performance

Verizon Approves HTC One 4.3 OTA, Rollout Should Start Early Next Week

If Verizon's HTC One is your daily carry, good things are afoot: according to HTC Product Management Director @Moversi, the company has approved the 4.3 OTA and it should begin rolling out next week. This news comes roughly six weeks after HTC America President Jason Mackenzie stated that they company would need "more time to spin new [software] and re-test the 4.3 update," which was said to take approximately a month. Better late than never, I suppose.

Sprint HTC One Receives Minor OTA Update To Software Version 3.05.651.3 That Fixes "No SIM Card" Issue

There are still a few months to go before the standard HTC One gets upgraded to Android 4.4, but in the meantime, Sprint is rolling out a minor OTA to the aluminum-bodied flagship. This update addresses an issue following a previous upgrade where users were presented with a "No SIM Card" message informing them that 4G LTE will not work without the required card. The phone should now also more accurately display how strong a radio signal it is picking up. These fixes are joined by an HD Voice improvement.
