Live from New York! It's AP at HTC's mysterious press conference. Rumor has is they may announce a new phone. Check out the live feed below for up to the second news and pictures!
As we draw ever-closer to HTC's February 19th press event(s), leaks around the HTC M7 - aka the HTC "One" - have been steadily increasing. The latest comes to us yet again courtesy of @evleaks, and here it is.
Let's start with what's right about it. First, it matches up with a previous leak, albeit one that was also from evleaks. Second, there's a lot of visual polish going on around the hardware that wasn't present in that first image. Shadows, reflections, and various shiny edges make this image seem significantly more official. The on-screen portion of the image conforms with what we've previously seen HTC do with new phones - 10:08AM, on the day of the announcement, in the city of the announcement.
It seems HTC has all but officially decided to drop its practice of unveiling its new handset lineup at MWC this year, scheduling press events mere days before the beginning of the mobile trade show. The company has sent out invitations to events in both New York City and London on February 19th, though it has provided no indication as to exactly what will be unveiled.
However, it seems a given at this point that we'll be seeing HTC's new flagship Android handset, codenamed M7. If HTC's One series announcement last year was any evidence, it's possible some smaller down-market sister devices are going to be in tow, as well.
As we move past CES and ever closer to MWC (Mobile World Congress) at the end of February, the internet leak factory isn't giving us much of a lull in production. Today's story comes courtesy of evleaks at UnwiredView, and let's be honest: it's a tantalizing one. Take a looksee.
This is supposedly a rendering of HTC's upcoming flagship phone, widely thought to be codenamed 'M7.' As evleaks points out, though, there are a few discrepancies here which are noteworthy.
First, the front of the phone lacks any HTC branding. HTC phones have typically worn the HTC (or carrier) logo below the top speaker grille, making this mark-less front fascia something of an oddity.
