The Logitech Revue, originally highly overpriced at $299.99, was recently reported to be going down in price heavily to a sweet spot of $99.99 that it should have shipped with in the first place in my opinion.

As of today, the price drop is in effect, so you can order the Revue for $99.99 with free 2-day shipping directly from Logitech by following this link.

Update: It's now up for the same price on Amazon and at Best Buy.

On a separate note, I've heard some rumblings lately of rumors that the original Google TV hardware won't be getting the promised Android 3.1 (some of you pointed out 3.2, but the rep said specifically 3.1) update and want to take this chance to debunk it.

Dolphin Pad for Honeycomb tablets

Android Police coverage:

The makers of the popular Dolphin, Dolphin HD (which happens to be my personal favorite), and Dolphin Mini browsers released a tablet-optimized browser earlier this week, called Dolphin for Pad.

Well it's about bloody time! The last we heard, Acer's Iconia Tab A100 - the little sibling of the larger, 10-inch A500 - was being delayed due to Honeycomb restrictions on 7-inch displays.  Fortunately, though, it seems that all of those issues are now firmly in the past for Acer, as Engadget is reporting that the company is readying its tablet for an early August launch, with a suggested retail price of $300.

In case you need a little refresher on the specs of the A100, a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor will be running the show. There will also be 512MB RAM available alongside 8GB of internal storage.

When I got my Galaxy Tab 10.1, one of the first apps I installed was Dolphin HD, and while it worked great, it still had that "phone" feel to it. Thankfully, the Dolphin Team has been hard at work prepping a version designed specifically for Android tablets (although, they're saying it's for "pads").

Since this is a beta version, it's clear that it's based off of Dolphin HD, as some of the menus still retain the phone vibe. However, the main features are definitely tablet optimized: the address and tab bar are both larger, and the settings menu takes full advantage of fragments.

While not entirely unexpected, Verizon and Samsung have pulled a bit of a ninja act with the LTE Tab 10.1. We haven't heard a word about it lately, yet an official announcement has just landed in our inbox announcing it will go on sale in two days. The ubertablet will run from $530 for the 16GB model to $630 for the 32GB model, a $30 premium over the WiFi version. As an added bonus, Tab 10.1 purchasers will get a free $25 credit for the Samsung Media Hub.

The major specs:

  • Dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 processor
  • 10.1" WXGA 1280x800 TFT (PLS) screen (PLS confirmed by official specs)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 7000 mAh battery
  • 3MP rear camera with LED flash and 720p video recording, 2MP front-facing camera

The updated Netflix APK that officially landed in the Android Market today has successfully been extracted and made available for download on "unsupported" devices by XDA member quixin. As you may know, Netflix 1.3.0 is the first version to support Honeycomb devices of any kind thanks to the Lenovo IdeaPad K1. Of course, the K1 has that super-special hardware-based DRM that was assumedly put in place just for Netflix support. Because of this, we wondered if Netflix would require this type of hardware level support in all future devices... but it appears that's not the case. The updated APK should work flawlessly on all Honeycomb devices, and probably most phones, too.

Even though FriendCaster Tab was "Honeycomb's first Facebook app," when it initially hit the Market it was, in a word, lackluster. It offered basic access to Facebook, but it was missing quite a few of the most commonly used features.

Since then, the dev has been hard at work completely redesigning the app - and the end result landed in the Market today. The updated app is similar to the phone version, but utilizes Fragments in Honeycomb, and it looks quite good. The new interface reminds me of FriendMe, but after messing around with it for just a few minutes, I think I like FriendCaster Tab better.

Autodesk is one of the many devs out there that consistently impress me with its high-quality, well-made apps - especially when it comes to Honeycomb. The newest app out of Autodesk's camp, SketchBook Pro, meets - and perhaps surpasses - all of the standards that have been set in my mind for quality development.

SketchBook Pro is a drawing app designed with the professional in mind - and it appears to be quite full-featured. It's designed to be used with a stylus or with your finger, depending on what type of look you're going for.

After watching the video, one of the coolest things about Sketchbook Pro in my opinion is the "mirror" feature, which makes creating images that require precision symmetry extremely easy.
