Well look what we have here. Somehow we've managed to come across pictures of a few Ice Cream Sandwich widgets. Specifically Gmail, Email, and Calendar. And to answer your next question, no, sadly, we can't hook you up with a download. We'd love to, but the widgets would actually need ICS to work.

It looks like they are all getting a nice coat of polish - we've helpfully included the old Honeycomb widgets for comparison (there are no equivalents of these in Gingerbread as far as I know, outside of an old and ugly simple calendar widget).

The lack of labels here is a little alarming, but we have no idea if any of those messages actually have labels.

The IdeaPad K1 from Lenovo, released earlier this year, is bursting with features and ports, but reviews suggest that it is perhaps not the best Android tablet available on the market today.  Nevertheless, it is a powerful little beast running Honeycomb and for the next two days (9 to 10 October) Best Buy is offering this device for only $329.99, that's $120 discount of the regular price ($449.99).

ideapadk1

In case you have forgotten, the K1 runs on Android 3.1 and has the following specs:

  • 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 processor
  • 10.1" (1280x800) display
  • Android 3.1
  • 32GB of storage
  • 1GB RAM
  • 5 MP rear camera, 2MP front cameras
  • Built-in 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Mini HDMI output
  • microSD card slot

This deal probably won't appeal to Christy, who won an IdeaPad K1 in our banner design contest, but for the rest of you interested in Lenovo's Android offering, pick one up from BB by 10 October 2011.

When the official Google Docs app was released a few months ago, we were all pretty excited about it. Since then, I've been using it on my phone and tablet, but have longed for an update that improved the interface on Honeycomb. That day has finally come.

Google just announced via the Google Docs Blog that an update is now available for the app, bringing an entirely new design for Honeycomb tablets. It's intuitive, fluid, and is exactly what I've been waiting on.

It features a three-pane view that allows quick access to your collections, as well as owned a starred items on the leftmost panel; a list of your docs in the middle, and a preview of the selected doc on the right.

Last Updated: August 1st, 2012

When we first saw ASUS' Eee Pad Slider at CES, we very nearly dismissed it at once. It was thick, tablets with physical keyboards showed no sign of gaining popularity, and Honeycomb had yet to come out of the woodwork. Besides, ASUS' own cheaper, slimmer Transformer had already caught our hearts. Our confidence was not raised by the long period of silence that followed - in fact, the only Slider-related posts we've written since January are an unofficial hands-on by a Romanian blog and the announcement of the slate's pricing.

Nevertheless, the Slider is, at least on paper, easily in the top tier of Honeycomb tablets - in addition to its slide-out QWERTY keyboard, it has one of those legendary IPS displays, coupled with a full-size USB 2.0 port and a comparatively low price tag of $475.

Adobe, the masterminds behind the ubiquitous Creative Suite of products, has just announced Adobe Touch Apps, a set of apps aimed at Honeycomb tablets, allowing users to perform sophisticated design, editing, and generally creative tasks from just about anywhere.

Perhaps the most exciting member of Adobe's new group of apps is Photoshop Touch, which is pretty much Photoshop on a tablet. The app allows for layer control, blending modes, curves adjustments, and almost everything you've come to expect from its desktop counterpart. Interestingly, Photoshop touch also makes it easy to grab a photo from your tablet's camera, Google Images, or social media sites such as Facebook.

An update started rolling out to the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi earlier today, bumping the build number up to HTK75D. While we're not entirely sure of everything that this update brings, there is one obvious difference: the Market.

Yep, a long-awaited update to the tablet Market is definitely in full effect, and it looks nearly identical to the phone Market. This is no coincidence, either-- remember the minor update that El Goog pushed to phones last week? It turns out that is the same exact version that's being pushed to the XOOM. Yeah, that means you can simply download the 3.1.5 apk and install it on your tablet to get the new Market.
